Well welcome.

0:09

I know it's a small small group and this would probably be a short meeting, but welcome to the leadership meeting that I'm holding with council member gay and uh council member uh gay uh I appreciate you coming today.

0:25

Um I appreciate your your confidence, your support, and um also wanted to say um before I turn it over to you for any comments you may want to make, I just want to say it means more to me to have your support for vice president um because of the way you've conducted yourself for the last almost three years, you've been steady, consistent, not emotional, logical.

1:00

Um you've taken in all the input from your district and made the best decisions you could make for your district.

1:10

Um I think with only that in mind, not what anybody else wanted you to do or say or vote, how they wanted you to vote.

1:19

Um you have consistently shown uh me and the rest of our colleagues uh what it's like when you you have the right focus.

1:30

Uh so I I just wanted you to know I I appreciate you beyond the support.

1:35

In fact, more importantly, um that's what I most appreciate about you.

1:40

Uh so it means even more to me that you would come today and say you want to to pledge your support for me as vice president.

1:49

So thank you very much.

1:52

Thank you, uh Councilman Miller.

1:54

Um it's uh I appreciate you your kind words there and uh realizing that uh a lot of my votes are always based on the people, whether it's my district or any district, I always listen to all the options and the complaints and the pros, uh what what's good and what's bad, and from finances to what's what's our the best for the city for our return on investment um to make sure uh that what we do is effective spending.

2:35

And that's that's that's my whole drive is the the people and effective spending.

2:42

And uh, you know, uh see that you have definitely focused on effective spending, and uh uh that's uh one of my main I guess uh boxes to check off for uh vice president leadership and uh listening to the people and uh making sure that we're making good wise decision for the people and their uh city dollars, tax dollars.

3:16

Um, so I you know I appreciate uh that leadership uh quality in you and uh that that's you know, I feel privileged and honored to uh sign your pledge today and and uh hope for the the best and no matter what uh uh like I've always said I may not support something but uh on votes, but I always want the best and try to make the best in in everything.

3:50

So whether you are successful at this or not successful, I still you know want the best for our city in the council.

3:58

And I think you will be a great uh leader, but I think you will also be great as a continual continuing council member for the future of whether you're elected to this position or not.

4:16

And that's what uh I also look at if uh how you would uh conduct yourself if you didn't get vice president, and I I feel like you you want the best, and that's uh no matter what position you're in, you'll serve it at your best ability.

4:38

So with that, uh hope hope the best for you in this scenario.

4:42

Thank you, sir.

4:43

Thank you.

4:44

I appreciate that.

4:47

Thank you very much.

4:48

I appreciate that.

4:49

Um councilman um gay.

4:52

Um I will I will say, based on some of the comments you made, I know you not only look at your district and and how our votes will affect your district, but you also look at um how it affects the the rest of the city as well.

5:08

And I I appreciate that about you also.

5:10

Um and I was reading, I was reading something this morning that uh actually was is from Tim Tebow, one of his posts talking about um the importance of forming solid relationships and the importance of um the trust that you have in your in your colleagues in any type of relationship really and how important that is and your ability to work together, and can you count on someone?

5:42

And things like you know, do they do people show up because they care about you and care about what is important to you, or do they show up because they think you know they they have to or they need to.

5:58

Um I try and I I've taken seriously representing the whole city, and I try to get everywhere I can, and if council members uh like yourself, district council members say you'd want me somewhere, um I believe there's a reason for that, so I will do everything I can to be there, and that's what I've tried to do during the campaign and since I've been elected, and I think that will help serve me well if I'm elected as vice president, because I see my my role, if elected to vice president, as the person who should be working with everybody, not only to help the president um be able to meet his or her goals and vision for the next year, but our whole council as a whole.

6:55

I I see the vice president's role as trying to bring everybody together.

6:59

Republicans, Democrats, the administration, let's find ways forward to get good things done for the people and try to do it in a fiscally responsible manner.

7:11

And I I think that speaks to a couple of the comments that you you just made that are important to you.

7:17

And and if I'm blessed to be able to be vice president this upcoming year, that's what my focus will be.

7:24

It's not about Chris Miller, it's not about what I can get out of this, um, it's about our body as a whole, working together, and just like a good team on a company in a company, you have to all be working together.

7:41

Everybody does their part, and you know that you can trust your teammates.

7:45

Um, I want to try to help foster that kind of environment and those type of relationships, and then um move us forward, and we've got a lot of fiscal matters, serious fiscal matters, need good solid decisions.

8:01

I believe you're one of those guys because you've been a successful businessman and you are a successful business businessman, you don't need to be doing this.

8:11

You don't have to be in a position where you don't have to achieve any other goals for positions of leadership, um, but you've chosen to do this, just like I've chosen to do this.

8:25

Um, and I think that's part of the definition of a true public servant.

8:30

And so again, I I appreciate you and and the support is important, uh, but more importantly, I appreciate you being willing to go through all the things that we go through, and uh many of them are good, but some of them are a little challenging.

8:46

Um, but you've willingly decided to do that, and you've willingly decided to run for reelection to continue to serve our city, and and so I appreciate your servants' heart, and uh, and I know, I know it's not about you as well.

9:04

It's about our city, it's about the people who elected us uh to serve them.

9:09

So um thank you again very much.

9:12

I appreciate you, and I look forward to an amazing year, regardless of the outcome of this election.

9:19

I am committed to working with you and our colleagues in making this the best year we've had.

9:25

Uh so so thank you again, sir.

9:27

I appreciate you.

9:29

Okay, we're adjourned.
