About The Creator

Open Publica is a project created and maintained by me, Isaac Torres, dedicated to making local government more accessible and transparent.

I'm a software engineer based in California, currently working on distributed backend systems, caching, databases, and cloud engineering. I developed an interest in understanding local government and finding ways to stay informed on city and county issues. This takes a surprising amount of time for any individual, there's just too much information to sift through, and policy decisions tend not to reach my timeline. So I built Open Publica to handle the processing, transcribing, summarizing, and categorizing, making it easier to keep track of information and surface issues that matter to people.
