0:35

Now join us for the pledge.

0:37

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands.

0:44

One nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

1:37

Another special day for the Carney Police Department.

1:40

This one comes a little bit uh delayed.

1:43

This this uh this um call was from May 13th, 2024, and as you can imagine, police officers work shift work, police officers work varying shifts, and it took us a while to coordinate with these officers' schedules and their families to be here today to to recognize their efforts.

2:02

Um we we really we really try to do a really take a lot of pride in uh recognizing great work by our officers throughout the entire year, and this is just another example of that.

2:11

Uh they were nominated by their Sergeant Sergeant Brad Noole, who's also here today.

2:15

Officers were dispatched on May 13, 2024 to the Family Fresh Market in Kearney for an adult male who had collapsed and was not breathing.

2:24

When Officer Officer Hosick first arrived, and and along with his assisting officers Humphrey and Hughes, uh they were CPR in progress.

2:31

Officer Hosick began providing CPR uh to this um male subject, and then Officer Humphrey and Officer Hughes also arrived and assisted paramedics with with the CPR in progress.

2:43

Uh they were able to uh regain a pulse and the and the male subject began to breathe on his own while being transported to Good Samaritan Hospital emergency room driven by Officer Hughes to the hospital.

2:59

Um so all three of these officers worked together along with uh the assistance of members of the community, members of CHI Good Samaritan Emergency Medical Personnel, and the person who suffered the cardiac uh incident survived in his 50s.

3:17

So this is just a great example of a few things.

3:21

Number one, swift decisive action by police officers acting on their training, acting on their experience, using their equipment that they are provided through uh the city and working for the city of Carney Police Department uh in a life was saved.

3:34

So today it's my honor to recognize all three of these officers with the Carney Police Department's life saving award.

3:48

So the the certificate though he should receive the Corney Police Department Lifesaving Awards certificate is awarded to Officer CJ Hughes in recognition of your actions on May 13th, 2024 during emergency titulation, which involved in the saving of human life.

4:03

Your proper application of training and experience exemplifies your dedication to duty, the preservation of life and service to the community preventative 28th of January 2025.

4:16

And the same statement for Officer Derek Hosick.

4:20

And the same statement for Officer Dave Humphrey.

4:23

And with this award each of them will receive the Carney Police Life Saving Award ribbon that they are authorized to wear on their uniform acknowledging the receipt of the you will notice.

4:34

Officer Hughes currently has one on your shirt at this time.

4:38

So this is the second in less than or third one in a very short period of night, I believe.

4:43

The last one was in 2023.

4:45

Yeah.

4:45

So give these gentlemen a round of applause.

4:52

This is always one of the great things you should do.

4:55

I can't thank them enough for their dedication, their commitment to the community.

5:00

And shows all the diverse things that police officers can be involved with in this one.

5:05

So I'm curious.

5:10

Congratulations, gentlemen.

5:14

Congratulations and thank you.

5:15

Thank you, Chief.

5:18

Four.

5:32

Well, on to the next is the agenda, and I don't think we'll be saving any lives.

5:36

I'm pretty sure.

5:38

Currently there is no unfinished business.

5:40

That moves us to public hearings number one and two.

5:43

Public hearings one and two can be discussed together, but will be voted on separately.

5:47

They pertain to proposed acquisition of permanent water main easement, easement A and permanent water easement easement B, both granted by Brandon Green, owner manager of 922 Enterprises LLC.

6:02

Sarah.

6:02

Hi, Sarah Sawn, Director of Utilities.

6:08

So the two easements are in the same area.

6:10

They are both on the intersection of or the northwest intersection, northwest corner of 20th Street and M Avenue.

6:20

So kind of at the um bottom of the overpass.

6:23

And so the two easements, there is oh let's try the pointer.

6:30

Okay.
