So this is a new event that could be held annually, I think they're trying to go for.

This would be from August 6th through August 9th at the Green County Fairgrounds.

But just if you want to just we actually pronounce it Ravy Paw, um just like it looks on there, and it is a an event that is takes um some sober young people.

WIPAWA is an event that is actually a group of young people and AA alcoholics anonymous, and that these um events happen all over the world.

And um part of my group here, um all of us have uh gotten together and wanted to put this together and have uh uh rave, which is not just a rave, it's a lot of other things, which um is more of a um part of our recovery, but we like to have fun too.

And uh so it will have uh music and dancing.

Um it'll also have um some really fun stuff for the kids, including baby pools and um uh all kinds of uh food and uh we'll actually have some uh panels where we bring people with the share their experience, strength, and hope with um of their recovery.

And uh and then we have a couple of our main speakers like on Friday night and Saturday night and Sunday morning, sort of as a traditional format that's used within the WIPA and regular AA um events that they have with conventions and that type of thing.

Uh but lots of the most people will be from the Madison, Milwaukee area, and we um have advertised at a lot of the clubhouses and and advertised online.

So this you uh applic event is an annual event.

Um it starts kind of in the parking lot of SSM Health, the hospital.

Uh this would be for August 22nd.

It goes from 8 a.m.

to roughly 10 30 a.m.

And that's just a benefit walk in.

Um it is a route that the police department is aware of and approves, and they didn't have any concerns for it.

Monroe Public Safety Committee Meeting – July 13, 2026

The Public Safety Committee met on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 4:45 PM in Council Chambers. Members present: Corinne Wartenweiler, Darlene Voelkli, and Dave Mosher (arrived at 4:50 PM). Matt Sheaffer was absent. The committee reviewed and recommended approval of five special event applications to the Common Council and received an update on the Fire Department's Forge by Fire Youth Boot Camp.

  • Fire Department’s Forge by Fire Youth Boot Camp Update: Chief Rufer reported on the two-day youth program. Day one focused on EMS, including Stop the Bleed and CPR certification. Day two covered fire operations with live demonstrations and skill stations. 14 participants aged 14-17 attended. The overall satisfaction rating was 4.8 out of 5. Half of respondents who had no prior interest in public safety careers expressed new interest after the program. Feedback will be used to adjust future events, including capping attendance at 16 and maintaining the two-day format.
