Good afternoon. Good afternoon, and welcome to the life enrichment committee meeting. Today, March twenty-fourth. The time is now four oh two PM. This meeting has come to order. Before taking roll, I will provide instructions on how to submit a speaker's card for items on this agenda. If you are here with us in chambers and you would like to submit a speaker's card, please fill one out and turn into a clerk representative. With that, we would now proceed to take roll. Present. Moving to our first item of this evening, approval of the draft minutes from the committee meeting on March 10th, 2026. I'll entertain a motion. Moving to our public speakers, Ms.ada. Now, how do you say I work for white people? You want to repeat that? Ms. Fife, you want to oh you're gonna act like you didn't say it. Okay, there's a number of issues that are going on related to gentrification and your sanctuary city status. This is a book that I purchase that talks about San Francisco Bay Area displacement and resistance to the displacement, and there's several. There's a chapter on gentrification. This is another book that I'm reading. 200 years history, immigration surges, employer biases, and depression of black wealth. And what is it saying is the same thing that Barbara Jordan said in 1994 when she was uh delegated by President Clinton to look at the immigration situation in this country, and her report came back that we had to do something to lower immigration, it was irregardless of legal or illegal, because it at some point it was going to have an impact on low scale African American male workers, and nothing was done. So now you in Oakland with African Americans having 9% unemployment, African Americans being homeless 70%, African Americans being evicted at high rates, deplaced displaced at high rates, and you won't even discuss it. You won't even talk about it. But people are talking about the Bay Area gentrification problem. And anything that impacts, that's why you're looking down. Black people sitting up here, don't do nothing for black people except ignore. I've been coming here for over 18 years. You have studies report the Mason Tillman report, you just report uh you've receive and file, nothing happening. But we got people like the chair saying I work for white people. That I don't do nothing. I don't come here expecting you to do anything. Thank you for your comment, Ms. Asada. We do have a motion made by Councilmember Gallo, seconded by Councilmember Houston to accept the determination of schedule about standing committee items as is unrolled. Councilmember Gaio.
