2:46On this 17th anniversary of the Transgender Day of Visibil Visibility, we as trans people literally fight for our lives every single day.
2:54On a national level and in the face of increasing anti-transgender legislation, there have been 747 bills proposed, 23 bills passed, 12 signed into law, all because of hateful rhetoric.
3:09Our community is grateful for promo for increasingly defeating all 58 anti-LGBTQA bills proposed during this current Missouri legislative session.
3:19We're grateful for executive order number 77 signed in May of 2020 that established policies to protect and support the City of St.
3:28Louis transgender community.
3:41Louis is a very trans-friendly city and a major Middlewestern hub for the trans community.
3:47Based on state level figures and gallop polling, gallop polling for the region, it is estimated that up to 4,000 transgender adults live in the St.
3:57We all know that being a progressive blue dot in a red state is very hard.
4:03So again, thank you all for consistently showing up for our trans community.
4:07Transgender Day of Visibility offers powerful opportunities to take action, stand in solidarity with each other.
4:14These observances challenge us to reflect on the pervasive impact of discrimination and to amplify the voices of those too often silenced.
4:23Transgender Day of Visibility is a powerful, active declaration of our persistence, resistance, and our existence.
5:06Today, by passing the resolution, acknowledges Transgender Day of Visibility and it shifts the narrative towards celebrating the lives, the joy and the accomplishment of trans individuals.
5:17It actively counters hateful stereotypes and provides a pathway to vital to ensure that our human rights and safety.
5:26It recognizes that visibility is a critical part of our existence and helps dismantle systemic barriers by showing support for our from our elected officials.
5:37Thank you for your support.
5:38Thank you for your empowerment, and most of all, thank you for this resolution.
5:56I just want to uh take a personal note.
5:59I've known Jordan uh pretty much my entire adult adult life.
6:03Um, and I have uh been partners uh with her through her own journey.
6:11And um I just want to also give her the opportunity to explain uh the crown that she is wearing today as well.
6:23The crown that I'm wearing represents that in April I went to um Milwaukee, Wisconsin and competed in the national Miss Trans USA pageant, and I brought the crown back to St.
6:35Um not only did I win Miss Trans USA 2026, um, there was uh Mars, he is Mr.
6:44Trans USA and West, they are MX Mixed Trans USA, all from the St.
6:51So this was the first time in national pageant history that all three national representatives came from the same city.
6:57So you see again, St.
6:59Louis is a very powerful city when it comes to transvisibility.
7:04So I went, I won, I won all categories that I'm here to represent um this pageant.
7:10It's pageant's about advocacy, it's about getting our voices out, and it's about visibility.
7:15I appreciate you all.
7:21And if I hadn't just come from a press conference in the mayor's office about the water uh rates, I would have known that Jordan is also the special order of the day.
7:30So we'll be hearing from uh Jordan in just a moment as well.
7:34But uh let's move on with the agenda, shall we?
7:37Uh announcements, special order of the day.
7:39We will with regular order of business to take up the resolutions calendar.
7:47And we have uh alderman from the 14th, if you could please approach the daisy.
8:06Uh Madam Clerk, would you read resolution number 28?

11:34Thank you, Madam Clerk and members of the board.
11:42It is about empowering and celebrating.
11:44And uh as a board of Alderman and as Jordan said, and a big red city, this is an opportunity for us at the board to not continue to only uplift individuals in our trans community, not only to empower them, but to let them know that this Board of Alderman stands a hundred uh percent behind our trans community.
12:02There's so many attacks that is happening from Jefferson City, there's so many attacks happening on the federal level.
12:07Uh, and this is a great opportunity from us from the City of St.
12:09Louis to say not only do we see you, not only do we hear you, but the city of St.
12:14Louis, we love you and we support you.
12:17Uh Jordan has uh I'm uh it's an honor to have Miss Braxton, I call it Jordan, uh resident of the 14th Award, uh, and just appreciate all the work that she has done and so many others in our trans community have done to continue to make sure that human rights, no matter uh who you are, no matter who you love, is being uplifted, especially in our trans community.
12:38So if she can come up one more time and say uh a few more words, but again, I want to thank my colleagues uh from the Board of Alderman for allowing this resolution to go through and vote on it and let our trans community know that uh we stand with them in the city of St.
12:52Louis and we will stand behind them every time there's a fight because when there's a trans fight, there's a fight for all of us.
12:57Our brothers, our sisters, our aunties, our uncles are uh part of the trans community, and we must be standing with them.
13:09Thank you, Alderman Alvridge.
13:11Um, for those of you who know me, know I'm never at a loss for words.
13:15Um, so um, yes, trans day of visibility is observed every year on March 31st, but true visibility is year-round.
13:24Transvisibility is important year-round because it combats legislative legislative discrimination, counters.
13:35Um, counters social isolation and fosters a cultural of safety.
13:40Year-round visibility allows trans stories to be told by trans people, highlighting our joys, successes, and full human experience rather than focusing solely on trauma and political debate.
13:52As we all know, trans people are always shuffled out and put in front of the cameras when it comes time for um elections.
14:00By maintaining year-round advocacy, the trans community ensures that supportive networks and joyful affirming narratives are always present in the city.
14:10Constant positive representation ensures that trans people are seen as everyday members of society.
14:17And trans people, we are like a river.
14:20We find our path over, under, around, or through anything that stands in our way.
14:26We always keep trying and we don't ever stop flowing.
14:29Remember, a river cannot be permanently stopped as water inherently always finds a way to flow.
14:35Like the resistance of a mighty river, trans people will not be controlled.
14:40We will not be erased, and we will definitely last over the long term.
14:44So again, thank you for honoring and celebrating and passing this revolution uh resolution that celebrates trans day of visibility.
