Meeting Transcript
I'm gonna go ahead and call this meeting to order at 7 p.m. Uh please uh join me in the Pledge of Allegiance. Higiance Super Flag of the United States of America. One nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Okay, can I get a roll call? All council members are present with the exception of council member um who is absent and excused. Councilmember Foster is attending online. All right. And then we'll start with public business from the floor. At this time, I think uh Mr. Ralcher has joined us and would like to say something. Yeah, how are you guys doing? Can you hear me? Yep, sure can, George. Hey, I appreciate it. So thank you for uh calling on me. Uh first off, we're going to be going to uh the LIO tomorrow. And this is going to be a joint resource meeting between the Senate and the House. We uh I thought it was originally going to be a discussion on the governor's new gas line bill, which he has put out. Apparently, it's it's basically going to be a discussion on what's going on as far as the uh the availability of gas out in the inlet. There's gonna be two meetings. There's gonna be another one in September on the 5th, uh, if I remember right the date. And they're gonna be interviewing the producers, they're gonna be interviewing the um the utility companies are gonna be in interviewing the uh uh basically NSTAR and how everything affects the uh the I guess the rail belt as it is. I know that doesn't it doesn't really affect Valdez at this point. I wish the discussion would center more around the gas line because I think the state could utilize the volume of gas up north for things like manufacturing and other things, but apparently that's what it's gonna be about. So if there was any um conception that people thought it was going to be about the gas line, uh I don't think it's gonna be. I think it's just basic uh trying to understand what the rail belt is gonna look forward to this winter when we run out of gas and what we could do about it in the meantime. So I guess that's the uh that's the wrap up for uh a quick update on what's gonna happen this week. And as you know, we just went through the election, so not a whole lot went on last week. But uh if you have any questions, I'd be more than happy to answer them. And if not, that's fine. Do you have any questions for George? Nope, looks like you're off the hook there, George. And uh uh congratulations on getting on into the primary. Yeah, and I I guess I needed one more thing. We did. I was talking to Nathan Deval, and uh we had asked the governor about a process to uh because of the fish, because of the pinks, the the run is almost not non-existent. So uh the governor, I guess is uh he's aware of it. We're looking at some sort of a declaration there on that. I think that's important. There's also discussion going on, and it's not happening fast and uh with the DOT and the ferry dock. Um I wish that was moving along faster. We get a lot of promises, but we don't get uh what we're looking for. If you have an update on that, I'd appreciate it. But uh so far I'm I'm not getting a whole lot, but I do want to know that it's out in the forefront, it's in the discussion. These two items are very important for Valdi, so I just thought I'd make mention. Yeah, thank you very much for that, George. And uh we'll keep working uh fairy dock with you and uh you know exploring the other avenues we got with uh with trying to get some uh stuff done. The declaration. Um the last time we did this, we actually wrote you uh something asking for a declaration to be you know handed to the governor.
