This special meeting of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors convened at 4:30 p.m. The sole agenda item was the appointment of Frank J. Imhof to the Alameda County Agricultural Fair Association Board of Directors, including a waiver of the 12-year term limit. Good afternoon, everyone. I'd like to start our special meeting for Tuesday, September 15th, 4 30 p.m. Agendized meeting. I'll call the order. Ask the clerk to please call the roll. Supervisor Marquez. Hi. Supervisor Tam. Excuse Supervisor Miley. Supervisor Fortunato Bass. Excuse President Howard. Present. We have a quorum. Very good. This is one item that we have to present. It's an item that I've asked to agendize to appoint Frank J. M. Hoff to the Alameda County Agricultural Fair Board Association of Directors term ending September 15th, 2030, waiving the 12 year required term limit. And I'll ask if there's any public comment before I make a motion. Is there any public in the room or online for this item? For the agenda item, there are two raised hands. First is Amelia Ferrario. Two minutes. Hello, I'm Amelia Ferrario. I'm from the Union City, Fremont, Newark, side of the hills, and we are often overlooked. The Tri-City area used to be full of farms. And even though it's transformed into more of the urban lifestyle, there's still families trying to keep agriculture alive over there, including Frank Imhoff's family. Coming from 4 H, I've been raising show stock for nine years. And even though raising show stock is great, the reality is that the commercial industry is what feeds America. In my experience, Frank is the only producer that has given me the chance to have hands-on experience with commercial cattle, how to feed them, what to look for and replacement heifers, stuff like that. He's the only producer in all of Alameda County that has ever offered that to myself or kids from our area, which I think is very helpful for us. I've appreciated him being on the Alameda County Fair Board to give a voice for students and families involved in agriculture, especially the 4-H and FFA kids and those of us who you know just want to raise animals and be involved in the ag industry, even though those opportunities are limited with so much urbanization around us. But that's it for me. Thank you for letting me share. Thank you. Next speaker. Hi. Hi. Can you hear me? Yes. Go ahead. Hi, my name's Krista Murphy. I grew up in Paddington and also participated in 4-H as a kid. So you know, 4-H in the auction has always been very important to me, and I continue to support both today as well. And I'd also like to express my support for Frank M. Hoff serving on the Alameda County board. He does. I agree. He brings tremendous amount of knowledge and experience, especially when it comes to 4-H in the fair community. And I've always appreciated that he's incredibly accessible.
