Um today we only have one item on the agenda, one bill that is, and then some updates.

Um, with that being said, Bill 11, please.

Bill 11 amends a 2026 capital fund budget to provide for a transfer of 480,000 dollars from the Trixler operating budget into the Works Progress Administration Capital Project Account and Trexular Monument Capital Project Account.

Um, this is for the upcoming Truxler year, which is 26th through March of 27.

Um, so we're preparing to get the money in the correct accounts in order to move forward with projects throughout this year, and this one is for the um staircase that's in Lehigh Parkway, and it needs significant renovations and it has some structural deficiencies, so we're just getting the money where it needs to go in order to get ready to do that project.

And um, we recently finished the project manual, so we have the design nearly completed, and we know what needs to go into this um in order to make it safe and usable for park users.

Um, any questions from my committee members on this matter?

Only question I had was this is just getting the funds in the right spot, like you said.

Um, and then I think there's the whole procurement process you're gonna go through as far as when that work actually comes through, then right.

So this is putting the money in the right spot, that's correct, and then once we're ready to do the bid, um, it will go out to bid and then we'll get qualified, hopefully a few qualified contractors to bid on um a contract of this size.

And um we've been successful in the past working on WPA, the Works Progress Administration type projects.

So um, we're hopeful that we'll get some interested parties to bid again.

Um, but that won't happen probably until um uh a month or two from now when we'll start that.

So you it'll be a few months until we start.

You'll start seeing any work there.

Salino for parks and rec.

Sure.

Um, I have a few updates.

Thank you for the opportunity.

Um, I wanted to highlight the most recent um Franklin Park meeting that we had uh last week, I think it was.

Um it was a great turnout.

It was nice to see um faces from the committee and council staff there.

We had a lot of community members show up and we got great feedback.

So the next meeting is gonna be on Saturday um March 21st at one o'clock in Franklin Park.

So it's gonna be more of a community celebration with uh games and snacks and things like that.

So um we have taken the feedback, the consultants have taken the feedback from that meeting, they'll come back with some drafts, and then we'll fine-tune it on that Saturday, and then there's one more final meeting that will happen in April as well.

Um so those are the three the two more dates to keep in mind as we fine-tune the design for Franklin Park.

Um, and then we will move right into fingers crossed um construction.

Hopefully, this year as well for Franklin Park.

Um Bogritz Bridge continues to be under construction and things are going relatively smoothly over there, and we're in um close contact with the project managers, and it is starting to look a little bit more semblance of a bridge, and that is still slated to be completed at the end of 2026 as well to be reopened.

Um, you may notice there are gonna be consultants out in um MLK phase two starting that design as well as a concept plan for Canal Park, looking at safety measures, ingress, egress, how we can get um fire and police in and out a little bit easier um in Canal Park as well.

Um moving on to special events.

We're always looking for volunteers for special events.

So if they're community members that want to get involved, or city staff or anyone, um, we can reach out to our special events team.

We have upcoming celebrations starting in uh May with our Irving Street block party, and then we move into the busy month of June with our Juneteenth celebration and then into fourth of July.

So lots of opportunities to get involved.

Um, so if you're interested or know anybody, just send them our way.

We'd be grateful.

And finally, just a recreation highlight.

We wrapped up our basketball um winter league with a an all-star, an all-star day, and it was really a celebration of the kids.

It was a really fun day.

Pal also had um an all-star celebration, so we're able to serve um a few hundred kids, and it was great to see them out having fun and just using recreation as a way to um celebrate what kids can bring to the table.

So those are my updates for now.

I know that we all in city council very busy, but you know what?

I would love to see City Council volunteering for parks and rec, you know, like all of us together, because there's so you know, it will be a good opportunity for all of us to be together and do, you know, I guess help the community at the same time.

So we should think about that.

Yeah, I mean, if you know, Miss Tolina, if you have any specific recommendations where we could have the whole council out if you'd send that our way, we'd appreciate it.

That will be nice.

I can uh definitely come up with a and and and the reason why I'm saying this is um I have an opportunity to do a few things with uh Miss Apha, you know, and uh it's been it's been great, right?

Um you know, we get to go out, we get to uh meet people in the community, and at the same time we get to help, you know, the times that we've that we've been going out and and doing different things has been very helpful, you know, for everyone.

So we should do this as a you know as a team.

I can definitely share some things that might work for that and give you a lot of options for sure.
