Planning and Zoning Commission Plat Agenda Meeting
On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., the Arlington Planning and Zoning Commission convened in the City Hall Council Chamber for a Plat Agenda meeting. All nine commissioners (Chairperson Nunez, Commissioners Blake, Sumpter, Finley, Ware, Payne, Greer, Carter, and Maddox) were present. Extension Requests (Texas Local Government Code §212.009(b-2))
- VII.A – Final Plat: Arlington Business Center Addition (Lot 1, Block 2; Planned Development; 409 East Embercrest Drive) – Extension granted. Motion carried 8-0.
- VII.B – Final Plat: John Stephens Addition (Lots 1 & 2, Block A; Residential Single-Family-7.2; 1918 South Cooper Street) – Extension granted. Motion carried 9-0.

It's uh about 5 30 on Wednesday, October the 16th. My name is Dr. Ignacio Nunez. I serve as chair of the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Arlington. I hereby call this regularly noticed meeting of the City of Arlington's Planning and Zoning Commission Plat Agenda for October the 16th, 2024 into session. At this time, I'd like to ask Commissioner Maddox to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Please stand. And to the Republic for which stands under high discipline with liberty and justice or thank you, Commissioner Maddox. At this time, I will ask our administrative staff to please read the speaker guidelines and general decorum for tonight's meeting. The City of Arlington fully embraces the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility where people of all identities and experiences are understood, appreciated, and fully included in the community and where equitable treatment and outcomes prevail. We ask that the citizens and other visitors in attendance assist in persevering the order and decorum of this meeting and to provide for attendance at and participation in the meeting without fear of intimidation, threats, or hostility. Any person making personal profane, hostile, slanderous or threatening remarks who uses vulgar or obscene language, who engages in any other actions that disturb or calculated to describe the meeting who becomes disruptive while addressing the planning and zoning commissioners or while attending the planning and zoning meeting may be removed from the council chambers. All speakers shall address the commissioners and not the audience or city staff. I shall not call out individually named members of city staff or the public. For ton for speakers tonight, when your name is called, please come to the microphone at the podium and state your name and city of residence for the record. The applicant will be asked to speak first and will be given ten minutes to make a presentation. Speakers in support opposition of the item will be given five minutes each to make their statements. If there are many speakers for an item, each speaker will be given three minutes to make their statements. We ask that you address your comments to the planning and zoning commissioners. Thank you very much. First item of business tonight is the approval of the minutes of October the 2nd, 2024 of the planning and zoning plat meeting. A copy of those minutes uh were uh sent to all of the commissioners in advance. Were there any changes or corrections that needed to be uh done to these minutes? Not hearing any. I have a motion to approve the minutes from Commissioner Payne, and I have a second from Commissioner Ware. Please vote. A minor technical issue, I hope. Thank you. Motion passes nine to nothing. We now have consent agenda on our first consent agenda category tonight is plats to be approved with conditions. We have five plates on the consent agenda tonight uh to be approved with conditions. We have an amending plat for the great Southwest Industrial District. We have an amending plat for the Pecan Acres edition. We have a replat for the William D. Lacey edition, an amending plat for the Westway edition, and a preliminary plat for a villa at Lake Ridge edition. Do we have any speakers on these items? Do I have a motion to approve the plats on the consent agenda of plats to be approved with conditions? I do. I have a motion to approve to approve by Commissioner Sumter, and I have a second by Commissioner Blake. Please vote. Motion passes nine to nothing. Next category of consent agenda are plats to be disapproved or denied. And we have one plat to be disapproved or denied. That's the preliminary plat. Collins place addition. Do we have any speakers on these items? Hearing none, we have a motion to approve by Commissioner Payne, and we have a second by Commissioner Finley. Please vote. Motion passes nine to nothing. Our next category is to consider extension requests submitted by Plat applicants pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 212.009 B2.
