Arlington Planning & Zoning Commission Plat Session – January 8, 2025
On Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 5:30 PM in the City Hall Council Chamber, the Planning and Zoning Commission convened for a plat agenda session. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Nunez and included the Pledge of Allegiance, approval of previous minutes, two consent agenda plats approved with conditions, and one extension request. All votes were unanimous (9–0 or 8–0 with one abstention).

- Minutes of December 18, 2024 Plat Session – Approved with a vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, and 1 abstention (Commissioner Maddox abstained).
- Consent Agenda – Plats to be Approved with Conditions (Items V.A and V.B) – Approved unanimously (9–0). The two plats were:
- Preliminary Plat – Bonnell Square Addition (zoned PD for RMF-22 and CC; south of Debbie Lane, west of South Collins Street).
- Replat – LL Jopling Addition (zoned RS-7.2; south of I-20 and east of Kelly Elliott Road, approximate address 4505 Kelly Elliott Road).
Extension Request
- Final Plat – John Stephens Addition (zoned RS-7.2; north of West Pioneer Parkway, west of North Cooper Street, approximate address 1918 South Cooper Street) – The Commission approved the extension request under Texas Local Government Code Section 212.009(b-2) with a unanimous vote (9–0).

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Uh it's 5 30, so we're gonna get started. Uh my name is Dr. Ignacio Nunez. I serve as chair of the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Arlington. And I hereby call this regularly noticed meeting of the City of Arlington's Planning and Zoning Commission Platte agenda into session. So at this time, let's uh let's see. Commissioner Payne, would you please lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance? Please stand. And to the Republic for which it stands. One nation under God, individual liberty, and justice for all. At this time, I'll ask our administration to please read the speaker guidelines and general decorum for tonight's meeting. The City of Arlington fully embraces the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, where people of all identities and experiences are understood, appreciated, and fully included in the community, and where equitable treatment and outcomes prevail. We ask that the citizens and other visitors in attendance assist in preserving the order and decorum of this meeting and to provide for attendance at and participation in the meeting without fear of intimidation, threats, or hostility. Any person making personal, profane, hostile, slanderous, or threatening remarks who uses vulgar or obscene language, who engages in any other actions that disturb or are calculated to disturb the meeting, or who becomes disruptive while addressing the planning and zoning commissioners or while attending the planning and zoning meeting may be removed from the council chambers. All speakers shall address the commissioners and not the audience or city staff and shall not call out individually named members of city staff or the public. For speakers tonight, when your name is called, please come to the microphone at the podium and state your name and city of residence for the record. The applicant will be asked to speak first and will be given 10 minutes to make a presentation. Speakers in support or opposition of the item will be given five minutes each to make their statements. If there are many speakers for an item, each speaker will be given three minutes to make their statements. If multiple speakers plan to provide the same or similar comments, those speakers may, if they so desire, designate one or more individuals to provide public comment on behalf of the group. Thank you very much. A copy of the minutes of our December 18 2024 plat agenda meeting uh were sent to all the commissioners in advance. Were there any changes or corrections needed to the minutes? Seeing none, do I have a motion to approve? And I do. I have a motion to approve by Commissioner Ware, and I have a second uh by Commissioner Findley. Uh please cast your votes. Motion passes 8 to nothing with one abstention. Next, under consent agenda, plats to be approved with conditions. Tonight we have two platts in the consent agenda under plants plats to be approved with conditions. These plats were discussed at during our work session upstairs. We have a preliminary plat on Bon L Square edition, and the second one is a replat on the LLJ, excuse me, LL Jopling edition. Do we have any speakers on this item? Seeing no speakers, do I have a motion to approve the plat on the consent agenda platform to be approved with conditions? I have a motion to approve by Commissioner Payne and a second by Commissioner Greer. Please cast your votes. Motion passes nine to nothing. Tonight we have one plat on the consider extension requests submitted by Platte applicants pursuant to the Texas Local Government Code Section 212.009 B-2. It's titled Final Plat John Stevens Edition. Do I have a motion to approve the Plat on this item to consider an extension submitted by the Plat applicant pursuant to local government Texas Code Section 212.009 B2. I do have a motion by Commissioner Blake, and I have a second by Commissioner Payne. Please cast your vote. Motion passes nine to nothing.
