Arlington Planning and Zoning Commission Plat Agenda Meeting – July 16, 2025
The Planning and Zoning Commission of Arlington, Texas, convened at 5:36 PM on July 16, 2025, in the City Hall Council Chamber to consider plat approvals and extension requests. All nine commissioners were present. The meeting concluded with unanimous votes on consent items and one abstention on an extension request.
Approval of Minutes
- The minutes of the June 18, 2025, plat meeting were approved unanimously (9 ayes, 0 nays) on a motion by Commissioner Maddox, seconded by Commissioner Sumpter.
Consent Agenda – Plats to be Approved with Conditions
- The Commission approved four plats as a consent agenda on a motion by Commissioner Blake, seconded by Commissioner Ware, with 9 ayes and 0 nays:
- Replat – Mitchell Hosack Addition (Lots 1-7, 1X, 2X, 3X, Block 1; PD-RM-12; south of E. Mitchell Drive, west of South Center Street).
- Replat – Nam Hung Addition (Lot 1, Block 1; CC; south of East Park Row Drive, west of South Watson Road).
- Preliminary Plat – Sherry Point Addition (Lots 1 & 2, Block 1; PD-RMF-22-CC; south of East Pioneer Parkway, east of Sherry Street).
- Preliminary Plat – The Preserve at Wanda Way Addition (Lots 1X, 2-18, 19X, 20-27, 28X, Block 1 & Lots 1X, 2-5, Block 2; PD-RS-5; north of Wanda Way, west of South Cooper Street). Commissioner’s note: After the vote, Chair Nunez stated for the record that he was abstaining from the Sherry Point and Wanda Way items. The official minutes record 9 ayes, indicating his vote was cast before the abstention statement was made.
Extension Requests (Texas Local Government Code §212.009(b-2))
- Two extension requests were considered together on a motion by Commissioner Blake, seconded by Chair Nunez:
- Replat – Arlington Villa Addition (Lot 3R, Block 1; RMF-22; 2601 W Randol Mill Rd.) – Approved.
- Preliminary Plat – The Atlantic Housing Addition (approx. 4.269 acres; PD for student housing; south of E. Second Street, east of S. Center Street) – Approved with 8 ayes and 1 abstention (Chair Nunez abstained, as recorded). The motion initially carried with 9 ayes, but Chair Nunez clarified his abstention on the Atlantic Housing item, changing the effective tally to 8-0-1.

My name is Dr. Ignacio Nunez, and I serve as uh Chair of the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Arlington. I hereby uh call this regularly noticed meeting of the City of Arlington's Planning and Zoning Commission Platte agenda for July the 16th, 2025 into uh session. This time I'm going to ask uh on Commissioner Sumter to lead us uh on the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag of the United States of America and the Republican which stands indivisible to the thank you very much. The first item of of uh business is approval of the minutes of the June 18th, 2025 P and Z plat meeting. These minutes have been sent to us in advance. Were there any changes or corrections that were needed to these minutes? And do I have a motion to approve the minutes? Yes, I do by Commissioner Maddox and a second by Commissioner Sumter. Please cast your vote. Motion passes nine to nothing. Next, we have plats to be approved with conditions. Tonight we have four plats on the consent agenda under plats to be approved with conditions. We have a replat of the Mitchell Hosak edition, a replat of the NAM Hung edition, a preliminary plat of the Sherry Point edition, preliminary plat, the reserve at one to white edition. Do we have any speakers on these items? I have the applicant for one of the plants, but it's non-speaker in support. Uh and I can't tell which item it is. Um that was on the other agenda that was upstairs. Who filled out that card? Joyce Stanton. Which case is yours, Joyce. Okay, thank you so much. Uh is there anything you want to say? Okay, thank you. Uh, do I have a motion to approve the plats and the consent agenda to be approved with conditions? And I have a motion by Commissioner Blake and a second by Commissioner Ware. Cast your vote, please. Motion passes nine to nothing. Chair Nunez. I just want to put on record I'm abstaining from Sherry Point and the preserve on WandaWay. Thank you very much. Uh let the minutes reflect that, please. We now have uh consider these are extension requests submitted by plat applicants pursuant to Texas Local Code Government Code 212.009 B2. There are two platts in the consent agenda. We have a preliminary plat, lot one, block one, and lot one block two of the Atlantic Housing Edition, and we have a replat of the Arlington Villa Edition. Do we have an a motion to approve these extensions? We have a motion approved by Commissioner Blake. Have a second by myself, uh Commissioner Nunez. And when we have there we go, cast your vote. These extension requests are approved nine to nothing. Thank you very much. Uh Chair Nunez, I just want to make sure on record I'm abstaining from the Atlantic Housing Plat. Very good. Let the record change the vote to eight yes with one abstention. There being no further business listed on this plat agenda, I hereby adjourn the plat agenda meeting, and we will have a brief pause why while our computer sets up for the regular session agenda.
