Metropolitan Council Meeting – January 21, 2026
The Metropolitan Council held its sole meeting of the week on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 4:00 PM. The Council considered nine agenda items, including comprehensive land use plan amendments, rezoning requests, and a canal right-of-way revocation. All votes taken during the meeting were unanimous (8-0). Two items were deferred to the January 26, 2026 Planning Commission meeting due to lack of prior commission review.

Public Comments & Testimony

No public hearing was held.
- PA-8-25-6601 (Joy Road) & PUD-2-25 (Jorge Crossing): Councilman Hudson moved to approve the land use plan amendment from residential neighborhood to compact neighborhood and the rezoning from PUD to PUD, seconded by Councilwoman Harris. Councilman Hearst, absent, was noted as in favor. Motion carried 8-0.
- Case 51-25 (Ned Avenue): Rezone from rural to limited residential. Motion by Councilman GoDay, second by Councilwoman Amarosa. Carried 8-0.
- Case 52-25 (East Airport Avenue): Rezone from transition to light commercial 3. Motion by Councilwoman Harris, second by Councilwoman Amarosa. Carried 8-0.
- Case 54-25 (Corsey Boulevard): Rezone from rural to light commercial 2 (Lot 49A1A of Corsey Village). Motion by Councilwoman Amarosa, second by Councilwoman Harris. Carried 8-0.
- Case 55-25 (South Kenilworth Parkway): Rezone from rural to light commercial 1. Motion by Councilwoman Roca, second by Councilwoman Amarosa. Carried 8-0.
- RB-7-25 (Boca Canal Revocation): Revocation of 60-foot Bocaj Canal right-of-way. Motion by Councilwoman Adams, second by Councilwoman Harris. Carried 8-0. No Planning Commission hearing was required per the UDC.
Key Outcomes

PA-7-25-17501 Florida Boulevard to amend the comprehensive land use plan from agricultural rural to industrial located on north side of Florida Boulevard, south of Riverside Park Drive. Council District 4 mote. Uh commission action was motion to defer to January 26th Planning Commission carried 80. Case number two, case 53-25-17501, Florida Boulevard to rezone from commercial warehousing to rural and rural to light industrial on property located on north side of Florida Boulevard, south of Riverside Park Drive, Council District 4 moat, commission action motion to defer to January 26 Planning Commission carried 80. These have not been heard by the planning commission yet, so we will not have a public hearing. Motion by Councilman Moat. Second by Councilman Dunn Jr. Is there any opposition? Motion carries. Take three and four together. Three PA-8-25-6601 Joy Road to amend the comprehensive land use plan from residential neighborhood to compact neighborhood located on the north side of Mickins Road, west of Joy Road, Council District 5 Hearst, Commission Action, Motion to approve, carried 804, PUD-2-25, Jorge Crossing 6601 Jor Road to rezone from plan unit development to put on property located on the north side of Mickins Road West of Jewel Road, Council District 5, Hearst, Commission Action, Motion approve, carried 80. Case 52-25-683 and 709 East Airport Avenue to rezone from transition to light commercial three on property located on the east side of East Airport Avenue, north of Goodwood Boulevard.
