Summary of Proceedings

Biddeford City Council and School Committee Sworn In at December 2, 2025 Inauguration

The City of Biddeford held its 153rd inauguration on December 2, 2025, at 7:00 PM. Although the event was scheduled for City Theater at 205 Main St., inclement weather forced the ceremony to be held virtually via Zoom. City Manager Truck Deaver welcomed attendees, and City Clerk Robin Patterson administered the oaths of office to the newly elected School Committee, City Council, and Mayor Liam LaFountain.

Oaths of Office

  • School Committee members sworn in: Megan Desjardin, Karen Ruell, Timothy Stebbins, Michelle Landry, Amy Clearwater, Marie Potman, and Emily Henley.
  • City Council members sworn in by ward: Patricia Boston (Ward 1), Abigail Woods (Ward 2), Roger P. Bopra (Ward 3), Dylan Dowdy (Ward 4), David Kurtz (Ward 5), Jacob Pearson (Ward 6), Brad Cody (Ward 7), Lisa Vadnes (At Large), and Mark Lesard (At Large).
  • Mayor: Liam LaFountain was sworn in as Mayor.
  • Each official swore to support the U.S. Constitution, the Maine Constitution, and the Biddeford Charter and ordinances, and to faithfully perform the duties of their office.

Mayor's Address

  • Mayor LaFountain acknowledged the unusual virtual format but said the commitment to the city remains the same.
  • He congratulated the School Committee and City Council and thanked city staff, board and commission members, and residents.
  • He identified priorities for the coming term: housing, affordability, strong schools, responsible finances, infrastructure demands, and parks, fields, and public spaces.
  • He pledged to govern with accountability, transparency, and a focus on the long-term interests of Biddeford.

Key Outcomes

  • All newly elected officials were officially sworn in for two-year terms.
  • The ceremony concluded with no additional business, votes, or public comment. City staff indicated they would follow up if another event is planned.
