The Biddeford City Council held a special meeting on April 28, 2026, primarily to convene an executive session regarding a personnel matter. The council unanimously voted to enter and exit the executive session, after which the chair outlined next steps for city leadership.
The council took the following actions unanimously:
I will call the Tuesday or April twenty eighth, twenty twenty six special council meeting to order. All counselors are present. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. This is for the City Council to meet and go into executive session pursuant to sections of Maine Law that allow for the council to meet with the city solicitor as well as discuss the economic interests pertaining to a city matter. And that is obviously what we're going to be going in there to speak about tonight. So just want to give context for members of the public for why that is done in an executive session, both to protect the city and to protect the employee. All those in favor? That is unanimous. I will entertain a motion to come out of executive session. So moved. Moved and seconded, all those in favor. We are out of executive session. Thank you. And thank you all for your patience this evening. Executive sessions exist precisely for these type of moments to protect both the employee and the employer, or the city in this case, from legal exposure, and to ensure we handle this transition properly and fairly for both parties. Looking ahead, the city will be engaging an interim city manager and a process from an outside the organization. We thank you for all your work during this transitional period. And with that, I'll entertain a motion to adjourn. Moved and seconded. All those in favor of adjourning, that is unanimous. Meeting is adjourned. We will start our budget committee meeting in two minutes. Thank you.
