Blacksburg Planning Commission Meeting - October 2, 2018
The October 2, 2018 regular meeting of the Blacksburg Planning Commission was called to order at 7:30 p.m. with Chair Don Langrehr presiding. The meeting was brief, as all public hearings scheduled for the evening were postponed to a later date. The consent agenda was approved unanimously, and the commission received reports from the Historic Design Review Board and the Montgomery County Planning Commission. The meeting adjourned at 7:39 p.m.

- Historic Design Review Board Update (Commissioner Davis): Reported on the Board's September 10 meeting, which approved a new restaurant and brew pub called "Linda's Restaurant and Off the Mall Brewing Company" at the end of the Virginia Tech Alumni Mall, in the former Cook's Cleaners and Mike's Grill locations. The project will seat 311 people and involve partial facade development and a rear addition.
- Montgomery County Planning Commission Update (Chair Langrehr): Reported on the September 19 meeting, where Runroad Gas applied for a special use permit for a natural gas gate station to connect to the Mountain Valley Pipeline, reducing pressure for local distribution. The Montgomery County Planning Commission voted 4-2 to recommend approval to the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors.

Good evening. This is the uh October 2nd, 2018 regular meeting of the Blacksburg Planning Commission. We meet every uh the first Tuesday of every month here at Blacksburg Town Hall. And uh we'll start the meeting off with a roll call. Mr. Davis, Mr. Collie, Mr. Langrier Present. Ms. Money Hun here. Uh Mr. Jones? Here. Mr. Catholic and Mr. Sutton are absent. I'm Mel Jones. I'm here we have quorum. Okay, to start off with every uh item that was originally on our public hearing list for this evening has been postponed until November. So those will be heard on November 6th. So I'm going to run through our consent agenda, which includes those um public hearings that were previously listed for this evening. First on the consent agenda is an approval of planning commission minutes from September 4th, 2018. The second item on the agenda is a rezoning request 18-0006, a request to reson three acres of vacant land from RM48 medium density residential to planned residential at 1435 Tom's Creek Road for the development of a multifamily student housing development. And that'll be heard on November 6th. It's also a rezoning, a request to reson 3.818 acres from planned residential with conditions in RM27 low density multi-unit residential zoning to planned residential with amended conditions in the 500 block of Warren Street and the 600 block of Green Street. This is land that's right behind the football stadium. That'll be also uh that'll be heard on November 6th also. It's postponed from this week. The fourth item on the consent agenda is a request to vacate approximately 0.327 acres of the town owned Warren Street right-of-way. This has to do with the uh project previously mentioned that's behind the football stadium. The fifth item is a rezoning number 18-0008, a request to resonate 4.215 acres from R5 Transitional Residential Zoning to planned residential zoning at 1222 Patrick Henry Drive. And that'll be heard on November 6th. The next item is a is rezoning number 18-0007, a request to rezone approximately 1.49 acres from the R5 Transitional Residential Zoning District to the downtown commercial rezoning district at the 500 block of South Main Street. That'll be heard at a later date. We've canceled that public hearing. Okay, so that stacks up for a very busy meeting on November 2nd uh November 6th. Can I get a motion on the consent agenda?
