Welcome to the regular meeting of the Blacksburg Planning Commission.

The meetings are held here in uh in the Roger Hedge Peth chambers of the Blacksburg municipal building at 6 30 on the first Tuesday of each month.

Citizens may address the planning commission during specified times on the agenda and are requested to adhere to the following.

Please speak at the podium, state name and address, direct comments only to the commission.

Please limit speaking time to a maximum of three minutes and speak only once during a specific hearing or comment period.

Please sign the cell phone, show respect for all speakers, and allow all opinions to be expressed in a tolerant manner.

So with the tonight we have consent agenda items.

First is the approval of the planning commission minutes from September 6th, 2022.

We also have the 2022 comprehensive plan amendment to add text to the land use chapter and a map to the land use map series related to preferred high density student housing locations as well as housekeeping items, including amendments to the transportation chapter, land use chapter, housing chapter, and a future land use map.

That is a scheduled public hearing is for November first, two thousand twenty-two.

And the last consent and uh consent agenda item is zoning ordinance amendment uh number sixty ordinances two thousand one zooming ordinance amendment to amend text to the zoning ordinance.

Wow, and create a new and downtown northwest zoning district for the area bounded by North Main Street, Turner Street, Prices Fork Road with a scheduled public hearing for November first as well.

As there are no citizens in in the audience, we have no sitting citizen comment.

How about unfinished business with the zoning ordinance review committee?

The zoning ordinance review committee will start meeting again, and the next meeting is uh October 17th.

Meet on a zoning ordinance amendment.

Okay.

We have a meeting scheduled for Monday.

Uh Montgomery County Planning Commission.

Uh the Montgomery County Planning Commission met on September 21st.

Uh the Planning Commission recommended denial of the travel center in Radford at Tyler and Mudpike Road, uh, mostly due to transportation issues, um, turning queue lines, um, things like that, but it's headed off to the board of supervisors to see what their opinion is.

Um, there's some interesting upcoming um items on their docket.

There's a rezoning to build a rather large three-story and parking lot, mini storage um on Cinnabar Road below the um uh the animal shelter.

And then um on a lot next to Eastern Montgomery Elementary School, there is a proposal for a five megawatt and uh for people who think of panels that is 10,560.

Um panels that will be on a ground mount single access pivot, so it'll follow the sun um on 35 acres.

Um that so they'll be taking those up in October.
