The Blacksburg Planning Commission held its regular meeting on October 6, 2026, at 6:30 PM in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers. The meeting included approval of previous minutes, reports from the Planning Director, and a scheduled work session on the ReCode Blacksburg project. No public hearings or public comments were held due to lack of public attendance.
Following the regular meeting, the Commission moved to the first-floor conference room for a work session led by consultant Camiros (Chris Jennette). The session focused on a presentation of the technical report for the ReCode Blacksburg zoning update.
Welcome to the regular meeting of the Blacksburg Planning Commission. These are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 630 PM at the Ret Roger E. Hedgepath Chambers in the Blacksburg Municipal Building at 300 South Main Street here in Blacksburg, Virginia. But there are no folks here in attendance from the public tonight. So I'll go ahead and call us to order. Can we start with a roll call? Yes, um Britt? Here. Jones? Here. Ryan Hart? Here. Walker. I think we have a warrant. Yeah. Great. Okay, so our consent agenda is uh simply the approval of the planning commission minutes from um September first, twenty twenty six. Do I have a motion? So moved. Second. All right. All those in favor, please say aye. Aye. All those opposed, of course, none. Um we have no public hearings this evening, and like I mentioned, no public in attendance. Um so we'll move on to unfinished business. Um does the zoning ordinance review committee has not met. Does historic design review board have any? But there's nothing to report. Okay, nothing to report. Uh did anyone attend the Montgomery County Planning Commission? Okay. Um, so we need to be um focus. Update on the schedule. Yes, thank you. Okay. Uh any additional items from planning commissioners. Okay. Um, new business. I have no report. Does the planning director have a report? Uh just a couple items. Uh so I wanted to uh remind the planning commission that we still have a uh the uh Blacksburg Horizons, the comp plan survey out. So as much as you can encourage others to take the survey, uh we'd greatly appreciate that. We've gotten a good response so far. And we're we're going out into the public uh to kind of uh meet the public where they are as well. So we'll be at the farmers market uh tomorrow, and then uh we have several other dates scheduled for the farmers market throughout uh October as well. And looking for other other places for engagement as well. Um we do not have any public hearings uh uh that are scheduled.
