Yes, here to discuss the South Brighton General Improvement District and the resolution for you tonight is a request to authorize the election.

We'll talk about some previous discussions that have happened and then get into the request that's before you.

Well, with council in the past.

Around 2024 and into 2025, staff had discussions around how we could potentially utilize this GID that had been around at that point for about 20 years.

Could it generate some funding to help meet some of those infrastructure needs in that area?

So we uh can we contracted with a firm called Economic Planning and Systems to look at what would tax revenue potentially look like for this district.

Could we generate enough funding to actually make a difference in our uh funding needs for the area to finance um you know things like storm drainage improvements and that sort of thing?

So out of that study came a proposal that came to council last um August to levy 15 mills on the prod properties in that area with the intention to expand that um the air the GID area into the future.
