The Broward County Board of County Commissioners convened at 10:11 AM and adjourned at 12:26 PM on January 22, 2026, in Room 422 of the Governmental Center East. Motion passed to set public hearing for March 3, 2026 instead of February 17 (9-0). Item 20 (environmental justice deletion) was also directed to be set for March 3, 2026.
- Item 27 – Purchasing Card (P-Card) Program for Commissioners (Pulled by Commissioner Furr): Commissioner Davis sponsored the item to allow commissioners optional use of county P-cards. Several commissioners expressed concerns about oversight, past misuse (2002 incidents), and potential public scrutiny. Commissioner Geller, Vice-Mayor McKinzie, Commissioner Rogers, and Commissioner Udine spoke. Commissioner Rich and Commissioner Udine voted no. Motion to set public hearing for February 3, 2026 passed 7-0 (Commissioners Rich and Udine opposed).
- Item 49 – Public Hearing: Easement Vacation (Parkland): Lennar Homes petition to vacate easements in Parkland. No public speakers. Approved Resolution 2026-021 8-0 (Vice-Mayor McKinzie not present).

- Item 53 – Mayor and Commissioner Reports: Included updates on senior housing, budget workshops, Keeper Days (Lighthouse Point 70 years), Tri-Rail record 4.5 million passengers, EV charging station ribbon-cutting, Community Court anniversary, climate change compact, solid waste master plan, Hollywood Library reopening, Cultural Division 50th anniversary, retreat location (Feb 10 at new hotel), homeless issues (safe parking, winter shelter, homeless continuum of care), YMCA MLK breakfast, Visit Lauderdale marketing luncheon, Sun Sentinel op-eds, communication board installation, and call center services.
- Item 54 – County Administrator's Report: Monica Cepero proposed a homelessness presentation at next meeting, commended staff on hotel project, discussed communication plan, announced IGNITE (Feb 13-22), Cultural Division 50th anniversary kick-off, AI-enabled call center launch, and BMSD litter collection truck.

Good morning, everybody, and welcome to the Brouwer County Commission meeting. Today is Thursday, January twenty second, twenty twenty six. And like to open up the ask everybody to rise for our Pledge of Allegiance and ask the honorable Commissioner Hazel Rogers to lead us today in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. Please remain standing. Ladies and gentlemen, it's customary that we observe a moment of silence in honor of notable persons from our community who have recently passed. I'm going to go around the dais to see if our colleagues have anyone that they wish to remember during this time. I have two. She had property and she'd have one room just for the police to be able to go at night and have, you know, uh a break, whatever. But also everything's being filmed there, so that the ne she made the neighborhood in her street a safe street for years and years while she did it. And helped start the Highland Park Civic Association. So just she was just a uh wonderful woman, and she will be missed. She's a Lord Hill residence, and of course, um, she was a parish administrator at the Episcopal Church of the Atonement in the Week Air City of Lord of Dale Lakes, and a member of that church for over twenty years. So you know she's a servant of God. So she will be missed by her family, church, friends, and the community that she has faithfully served. I thank you for this blessing that you're gonna bestow on her, Mr. Mayor, and your comments. Thank you. I'd like to have a moment of silence for that. Thank you. Thank you. Please take your seats. Ghost kitchens are popping up all over Broward County. This one's a person that lives in my district in Parkland, but the ghost kitchen is in, I think yours are Lamar's in Deerfield, so I probably Lamar's glazed and fueled donuts. Check them out. They're made with beef tallow. Um they'll come in a in a truck and they'll bring out and they'll do donuts at different events throughout the county. Anthony and Denise, they're hiring people in Broward County. They brought this here from Texas, and you'll see them around. Check them out online, glazed and fueled.
