The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners held a regular meeting on August 18, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The meeting included an invocation, approval of the agenda, public service announcements, appointments, an award presentation, a consent agenda, two public hearings (on the 2026 General Obligation Bond Sale and a six-month moratorium on data center projects), new business items, a work session on zoning text amendments, a transportation program update, public comment, commissioners' reports, and an executive session. Key outcomes included approval of the bond sale, adoption of the data center moratorium as amended, and direction to staff to begin a process to remove data centers as a permitted use.

Let us pray. Dear eternal God, um, Father, Lord, as you sit high and look low, Lord God, you know the state of affairs, Lord God, in our nation, Lord God. Lord, uh, as you, Lord God, have called men, Lord God, to govern, Lord God. Father, I do pray, Lord God, for those, Lord God, who you have placed, Lord God, over this county, Lord God, over this nation, over this country, Lord God. Father, Lord God, I pray for unity in the body, Lord God, in the nation, Lord God. Lord, for you said in your word, Lord, that, Lord, a house divided cannot stand. So, God, I do thank you, Lord, for this opportunity, Lord God. For your word tells us, Lord, to pray for all men and those in authority, Lord God. Lord, it doesn't matter their name. It doesn't matter where they're from, Lord God, but it's that you place them, Lord God, where they are, Lord God. I pray, Lord God, that we would humble ourselves and pray and seek your face. And Lord, for those of us who know you, that we would turn from our wicked ways, so you would hear from heaven, forgive our sins and heal this land, Lord God. You know everything that's going on in the county, Lord God. But God, if we seek you, Lord God, you're the one who can change it, Lord God. You will set things in order. And I pray for each of these commissioners, Lord God, all of the representatives, Lord God. Lord, everyone that's here, Lord God, that we would seek you, Lord God, because you're able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ask to think according to the power that worketh in us, Lord God. Father, keep us humble, Lord God. Keep your people, the church, Lord God, forever looking unto you and your son Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, Lord God. Now, Father, whatever is done, Lord God, Lord, may it glorify you, Lord God, not bring shame to your name, Lord God. Lord, may we be a people of peace and unity, Lord God. Commissioner Hance. We we basically grew up together, but yes, I'm with New Creation Bible Church. We're at 5015 St. Leonard uh Road in St. Leonard, Merlin, there at the auction house. Many people may know the auction house. Uh where Bible teaching ministry we do, we love to do outreach. And uh looking indeed for more opportunities in the county to do outreach to the homeless, and we see the population growing there. That's a focus we need to get a hold of in prayer first and then work along with the commissioners and other agencies in the county uh to better our communities and safeguard our communities. Uh but we do indeed have an upcoming event on September 20th, uh Friends and Family Day. Uh, but you don't have to wait until then. Uh we're always open on uh Sundays, uh 9.30 a.m.
