We had site visits this uh past Friday um to the uh Copper Ridge and Griffith West uh that's some of us were interested in and it was uh they're very beneficial.

I thought it was well uh worth the time and just to visualize what we're seeing.

You know, one's talking about solar, one's uh subdivision, and when you're there at the site physically looking at how this is gonna lay out and you can you know, project what this is gonna look like.

Um I just have a couple of notes for you.

First of all, I think at the last business meeting I mentioned that um the Raddock Road solar project.

Um had been rejected by the PSE and um we expected that to be appealed, and they have indeed appealed that so um the uh process continues and we'll keep you updated as that um moves through the appeals process.

Um I also wanted to bring your attention to two upcoming events tonight at the um South Carolina Senior Center is the public hearing on the proposed deferrals for four different types of projects in the freedom area.

Um that begins at six PM.

And of course it's a it's public hearing.

Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting

The Planning and Zoning Commission of Carroll County, Maryland, met on December 16, 2025, at 9:00 AM in the Reagan Room. The developer requested a modification to allow 6 users (instead of the maximum 5) on a shared driveway. The driveway will be 18 feet wide with a 70-foot cul-de-sac. The commission approved the modification (6-1, with Commissioner Gordon abstaining).
  • Braddock Estates Re-subdivision Driveway Surface Modification (FX-22-0002): The owner requested to change the required paved shared driveway to gravel for environmental and aesthetic reasons. The Department of Fire and EMS had no issues if the driveway can support heavy vehicles and is maintained. The commission approved the modification (5-1, with Commissioner Robertson opposed).
  • Concurrency Management Report FY25: Amy Barcroft presented an overview. In FY25, 137 lots were approved in preliminary plans, 32 in final plans, and 45 lots were recorded.   • Text Amendment: Use-off-the-premises Signs: Staff presented a proposal to allow consolidation of non-conforming billboards into larger signs (maximum height 50 feet, maximum area 672 square feet per panel) within 25 feet of an existing sign. The proposal would reduce the number of signs but increase their size. Discussion included conflicts with state regulations, safety concerns, and the desire to allow relocation for safety reasons. The commission generally supported the concept and directed staff to draft language, including a provision for safety-based relocation, for the January 2026 meeting.
