Commissioners emphasized the need to balance preservation with growth areas and to maintain viable agricultural industry. No action taken; further input to be gathered from Planning and Zoning Commission and Agricultural Preservation Board before final applicant selection in November.

24th, 2026 open session for the Board of Carroll County Commissioners. As we always do, we'll begin with a Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silent reflection. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. And to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Yes, sir. Okay. Um a lot of things have gone on since the last meeting. Um the James D. Ball athletic complex kickoff happened. I got to walk the track right behind. I'm in I'm the greenish shirt behind Dr. Ball, and I got to walk the track with Dr. Bow and Dr. Mince. Um one of the VPs there got me there. There's my shirt. Um an arrow too. So they'd let me walk on the track. So it was great and uh um a great event, and uh it'll it'll be great to get to use that field. And uh Chris Swam, I didn't see the green air any place on on my photo that I sent, but thank you. Um got to visit University of Iowa last weekend. Yeah, there's the there's the field, it's awesome. And they still have to strike the track. They did play two games on it, and uh they still have some um extra work to do around the field. Um, but uh they're getting it done, and uh I wanna thank our facilities people. Uh you guys had some challenges dealing with uh subs. It's probably the biggest outdoor project you guys have done as opposed to buildings, and you guys did great, so thank you. Um I got to go to University of Iowa and visit my oldest grandson la over the weekend, that was super. Came back and went to uh the last home Oreo game, which they actually won. Um I have tickets to uh the wildcard games, but I assume I'll get refund. Um voted for the uh at the Carroll Arts for the County Commissioner Award. Um I think they ended up not giving it, but uh they it it's some great art there. Um if if any of you didn't get there, it's some great local art by members there, and uh they gave a bunch of awards. Um I'm currently at Chesapeake Connect. Um as a board member of the Baltimore Metropolitan Council. I get to do that trip each year. This year we're in Durham, North Carolina, which which I happen to come to about six times a year, so it was interesting. But the American Tobacco facility and some of the things they have there downtown, they're really working on, and it's it's a great great trip, and it's great to talk to the other counties here and some of the vendors here. It's a it's a great trip. They normally do it a little later in the year. But because of that, I missed the tall scrap feed with uh Bruce Berriana's tent yesterday, but uh I think thirteen or fourteen of us went. I had a table and a half there, and Rhonda covered for me well. So uh that was a great trip. I'm still getting text messages. Uh they had several hours driving back and forth to beat on me. So uh I'm getting a lot of text messages. Um last night I deviated from dinner. Um my gosh, they feed you too much on this trip, and got to see my grandson here play a soccer game and talk to both grandsons, uh, my daughter and son-in-law, and then we uh we had dinner together because I got too late to get back here for dinner. Umbers aren't what they are, some when you get out a little bit outside of town. So I I couldn't get back in time.
