0:15

0:18

There are no modifications.

0:20

Thank you.

0:21

Is there any public comment?

0:23

Seeing no public comment, I'll go to item 4A for possible action, discussion and possible action regarding an application for a tavern liquor license, liquor 010192-2026, with Shawali Abdullah.

0:40

Yes, Abdullah.

0:42

Okay.

0:44

As liquor manager for the Lucky Break Lounge in Sports Park OLC, located at 3481 Highway 50 East, Carson City, Nevada, 89701.

0:55

Will you state your name for the record?

0:58

My name is Shahwadi Bill Abdul Habza.

1:01

And I'll call you Bill.

1:02

Yes, I've been called Bill all my life.

1:06

Okay, Bill.

1:07

So let the record show that the applicant is present.

1:12

Have you had a chance to review the staff report?

1:15

Yes.

1:16

Are you okay with the staff report?

1:17

You are good with the conditions.

1:19

Yes.

1:19

Natalie, are there any changes to the staff report?

1:22

There are no changes to the basically, and Bill and I had a chance to talk before the meeting.

1:28

So he's taking the old, what was it?

1:30

Whiskey tavern.

1:32

And he's putting in big screen TVs and just redoing the whole place, right?

1:36

Exactly.

1:36

We did the whole place already.

1:40

Excellent.

1:41

And what I'll tell Bill, but I want the other applicants to listen because I'm not going to repeat myself, but it applies to everybody.

1:48

Sure.

1:49

So about I don't know, I don't remember how long ago.

1:52

It's been a long time.

1:53

So maybe seven years ago.

1:56

It used to be you had to go to the liquor and entertainment board, which is the board supervisors with the sheriff.

2:01

They sit as the liquor and entertainment board.

2:04

And if you wanted a liquor license, you had to wait for them to have a meeting, and then you'd go before them and ask for the liquor here.

2:12

For the liquor license.

2:14

The board of supervisors amended the code to allow the hearings officer, which I'm a hearings officer, to issue the liquor license.

2:22

At that time, the sheriff was concerned that if we made it too easy to get a liquor license, people wouldn't take it seriously and wouldn't recognize how important it is not to sell to underage drinkers.

2:35

Okay, so it's going to be really important that anyone selling or serving liquor takes the server training, which Natalie can explain that to you after the meeting, that they're carding people, that they're doing everything properly because the sheriff's office will have underage people go in to purchase.

2:53

Exactly.

2:54

Sting operation.

2:55

And if you fail, you will be fine, and we may consider revisiting whether or not you can have a liquor license.

3:03

I understand.

3:04

Okay, cool.

3:05

And so that's for everybody, so everyone understands the sheriff takes this very, very seriously.

3:10

Um is there any public comment on this application?

3:14

No.

3:15

See the thing I have uh liquor license for uh I had liquor license over 30 years ago.

3:28

3:32

Yeah, but not Lion County.

3:34

Carson City, you have to go to the board.

3:36

Yeah, exactly.

3:38

It was much, much harder.

3:40

But still the liquor license, you have to, it's sheriff department.

3:46

They take it very, very serious for you.

3:52

You have to check the ID.

3:54

You cannot sell alcohol under age.

3:58

I know I know this all my life, so I'm safe on that.

4:02

Okay.

4:03

Well, I don't I have to say it for everybody.

4:06
