The Castle Rock Town Council met on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at 6:00 PM in Town Hall Chambers. The meeting opened with an invocation and condolences for a recent community tragedy. Key actions included approval of employee compensation adjustments, a $19.1 million budget amendment, updates on drought conditions and wireless facilities, and several infrastructure project contracts. All votes were unanimous (7-0).
Good evening. Um I'd like to open up a prayer tonight. You know, in light of uh I mean I went to two funerals in last week and then also with in light of what happened last few uh couple days ago and near Perry's Pizza. You know, I'd like to open up an in a different prayer. Um hopefully some uh something to raise the spirit a little bit. Uh Lord is Lord is near the brokenhearted and it's saves the crushed spirit. And all we can do with the with Christ, all can we do all of us can do all things with Christ, which strengthens me. And move on to the other part of the prayer is um help us engage in meaningful discussion, give us clarity and strength to do on our best skills and our judgment. Please bless our community, our residents, our businesses, and visitors, and please please help us continue doing good work in your name. Amen. All are present. Thank you. Please rise to please allegiance. I know that everybody either watching or here or watching in the future understands what our community has gone through. This last week we had a uh a murder in our neighborhoods, and it's it's hard. Um it's really really difficult. Um but it is an active investigation. It is something that wouldn't be appropriate for a council to talk about. Um we don't want to uh do anything that's inappropriate out there, and making sure that they can do the investigation properly is is important and they can hand that investigation off to prosecutors in this in the future. So we are mindful of that. I think that's more what's more important is to be mindful of the victim and their family rather than being um speculating on what on the uh on the perpetrator. Really what we need to do is support the victim and her family in any way we can. If you know the victim is in their family, the victim and their family, please reach out to them and please let us help if we can. Um it's really really important that we can do something for them and uh take take a little bit of their pain away. Um I appreciate that. And with that, I'll move on to Ryan Hollingshead. Thanks, Mayor. Um, just wanted to say thanks for all the help from town staff, especially our communications department with our first open house of the summer. Uh went really great last week at Bison Park. And you know, we got a pretty good turnout with all the creative ways of getting the messaging out, and it also stood up a lot of emails of people who wish they would have come and just asked questions. So I've gotten some good feedback from that. So thank you. Councilmember Katie. Thank you, Mayor. I just would like to um extend my heartfelt condolences to the gentleman that lost his life in our community two nights ago. It was a terrible tragedy, and um, you know, my thoughts and prayers are with his family and his friends. Thank you. Councilmember the floor.
