The Castle Rock Town Council met on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 6:00 PM in the Town Hall Council Chambers. Six councilmembers were present (Mayor Gray, Mayor Pro Tem Bracken, Councilmembers Cavey, LaFleur, Johnson, Dietz); Councilmember Hollingshead was absent. The meeting included an invocation, pledge of allegiance, council comments, consent calendar, several public hearings, and park improvement items. All votes were unanimous except for the vacation of a portion of Brookside Circle (5-1).
No members of the public spoke during Unscheduled Public Appearances or during any of the public hearing items.
Good evening. We will start with the invocation by Mark Marble, the Castle Rock police chapman. Chaplain. Thank you, Mayor. Let's pray. Uh Father God, I want to thank you first for uh this amazing town that we live in. It is a great place to live, to raise families, to do business, to grow up and to eventually retire. I thank you, Lord, for the opportunity that we have at the beginning of every meeting to be able to call on your wisdom and your mercies for our town. And so we do that once again. We know, Lord, that there are lots of issues at stake tonight. There's lots of issues that take place and need to be dis decided in this room more often than we really recognize. And so we thank you for those decisions and pray, Lord, that every council member has the wisdom to act accordingly. Lord, there are so many things that uh happen in our town with our civil servants and the staff here at the town and schools and businesses and the different areas of life. Um coming up, we have an election. And so I pray, Lord, that that that election would go smoothly and well, and uh that it would happen away the way that um that brings honor to you. So Lord, be in this place. I ask for your peace to be here tonight, Lord, as we talk about so many things and celebrate so many great things. It's in Jesus' name I pray. Amen. Amen. Thank you, Mark. I want to first thank you very much for coming out tonight. And we have kind of a fun event coming up. Um before that, I'd like to start with uh council comments. Um we have a small business Saturday coming up on November 26th. And I'd like to uh make a motion that we uh do a proclamation for that and like to speak to that motion if it if it so passes. So I'll move. Second. I have a first and a second. Um and if I would speak to it, one of the one things I want to speak about on the uh small business Saturday is um if you guys could walk around town, you can see how busy things are, whether it's downtown Castle Rock or Castle Rock in general or up and down the front range, and it's been fantastic to see our citizens come out and support our small businesses, especially. Um especially when they we all need it. We the last few years have been hard, of course. Everyone knows that. I'm not gonna keep pounding that, but uh but what what we I think we forget sometimes is most of our businesses are up quite a bit. Um unfortunately costs are up higher than what what their revenue is.
