The Castle Rock Town Council met on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 6:00 PM. The meeting covered routine approvals, public comments on a sales tax ballot measure, discussion of community grants, historic preservation code amendments, and a continued discussion on local regulation of natural medicine businesses. The Council also proclamed Mental Health Co-Responders Week and Fire Prevention Week, and adjourned to executive session for legal advice on the Pine Canyon development.

Well, those who have given us this task, help us engage in meaningful discussion and give us clarity and strength to use our best skills and judgment. Thank you. Please rise the legal allegiance. First, as always, thanks for everybody joining us in here in person and online as well. Council comments, I'll start off with a couple of things. One is uh we had the Heroes Gala last week. Um it just turned out phenomenal. It was a great event put on by DCCF and just the amount of people that uh we we get the praise and thank um from the uh police, fire, and just that that community in general of veterans, um everybody who helps us in in our everyday lives, uh we really really appreciate it. Also, um I want to uh mention tomorrow is the uh fifth annual rally for of hope tomorrow at Festival Park from 5 30 to 7 30. Uh reminder that September is National Suicide Preventional Awareness Month, and now more than ever it's important that we talk about mental health and let's erase the stigma of suicide mental health disorders, and we can work towards supporting one another and finding a solution. So hopefully everyone everyone can make it. It's a great event. There's uh a lot of uh CRT, but also just a lot of mental health awareness and uh communities in general uh gonna be there and help each other out and talking and uh I think just it's it's one more way that we can erase the stigma of having a hard time or a hard day, or just uh a hard moment. So I think that's fantastic. Moving on to council comments with Oh, yeah, sorry, thank you. When we do it here you okay. Um well, also last week we had uh Tri Arts grand opening at at a Cantrell School. That was fantastic. Um I was that was I was asked that to speak and be there, and we had a lot of people there. It was a great event, um, and we look forward to uh having a partnership with them at that at that school and as well as other things as well. Um is gonna turn out turn out to be such such a beacon of light for our town, so I appreciate it. Ryan Hollingshead. No comment tonight, thanks. Laura Cavey. Thank you, Mayor. Um I just want to give a quick shout out to Mark Marlowe and to Dave Corless. Um they have worked countlessly hard hours with Pine Canyon. Um I know Mark has been burning the candle at both ends, um, trying to work through that, trying to come to, you know, going to the Board of County Commissioners meeting, which went till I think almost nine o'clock that night. Um, going again on Monday and and speaking again and putting together all the stuff that he's put together for everyone. Um I just want to thank you both very much for all your hard work on that. I know that it's uh it's been um a long road, and you know, I'm hopeful that maybe we're we're getting somewhere with this. So thank you so much.
