Um I can remind everyone that the application of the sunshine law is in effect.

Uh we have uh the minutes from the January meeting for everyone to uh take a look at and um do we have a motion to approve the meeting the minute called uh January meeting from the you have a second second all in favor say aye?

So under new driver's permits and temporaries issued, we have zero.

Uh that's number uh strip station inspectors report.

That's A under number four, B request for driver permit renewals.

We have two, one for Mercury Taxi and the one for Nouga Taxi.

Number five, all fees and paperwork have been paid and completed.

Uh yearly fees for the horse drawn carriages uh paid by one of the companies, Chetnega Carriage Company.

Uh all the fees and paperwork are paid and complete.

Uh I don't have any old business and I don't have any new business.

We have uh guess we're waiting on an update from the uh city council, the recommendation from this board to city council in regards to the three percent rate increase for taxi companies.

Uh we are also uh on an update for the three percent rate increase for toll companies.

And then um we have an update on the mercury cab and murdering transportation uh situation, legal situation.

Um I spoke with Chris Anderson regarding the um at least the towing um I I can reach out to him about the uh the taxi rate increase uh hopefully we can get those on the city council again soon.

Um as far as the the law suit, um I looked up yesterday on the the clerk website and they are still pending there's a discovery motion stop meeting that um keep being continued, so I assume that case is still moving forward.

Um I spoke with uh one of the attorneys after last after the last meeting was sold.

The case is still moving forward.

So at this point, it's my understanding that the case is still presenting and we don't have an outcome yet that you can take action based on it.

So the case this isn't a fluid list.

I believe they have a that motion set to come up on Monday again, but I I don't know if uh the trial date is that or not.

Um the recommendation will go to Chris Anderson who should be able to get that on the agenda for city council hopefully in the near future.

Um it says, you know, which I hadn't heard this.

I knew the tow companies were going for that three percent rate increase year over year, or based on the uh I guess it's the national uh inflation average for consumers.

Um I think that's what they're basing that off of.

Um is that something that was discussed for the three percent increase, or is that just going off of by chance of what the tow companies were doing?

Because we didn't ask for a three percent increase, or that's not what we were asking for.

So I don't know.

Um I'm not sure why it says three percent on the agenda.

I'd have to talk to a quick one.

Well, there's intentions are right, and I think the reason why I asked that is because I think Shackofer could probably tell me the exact years, but I think about two or three years ago they changed the ordinance to where for the tow trucks they were supposed to get like a wasn't really necessarily a three percent fixed fee, I think it was fixed on the annual inflation rate for consumer whatever I can't there you go, um consumer price index for the stenographer in case you didn't hear that.

Um but um that was just for the toes, and that's year over year, so it's obviously you know, but I don't think that ever got changed or even discussed prior to my knowledge of doing a three percent increase.

And I know that the toes when they did yours, I believe that um they actually summed up a few years on the original increase.

She got a substantial increase, and then it was gonna go to the three percent every every year over year.

So I don't know if that three percent just got put there because of what they were dealing with toes and just kind of assumed it was the same thing.

So that's because what we're asking for is not a three percent increase, is what I'm trying to get at.

And maybe that might be good to get us back to the standard of the state.

So Nashville charges those rates, Knoxville, Memphis, they're all basically within that same rate structure that I presented.

So maybe I don't know.

I don't know if I'm getting ahead of myself.

And I know that council meetings to get anything on an agenda from whatever research, either got to have a council member that supports the idea to put it on the agenda to discuss with everybody, or it has to come from like the legislator part, like Chris Anderson, where he can put stuff on the agenda via the mayor's office.

Or I can go on Tuesday Might Night, present my idea, and then at that point they could take up something.

So those are kind of the for the basic person.

I don't know about sitting members could you know uh do that.

I haven't experienced that during the taxi board meetings in my 12 years of doing it where uh it's been discussed before to try to get something put on the agenda based on the rate increase stuff to discuss, and it was like a brick wall.

So I don't know if just to help you guys uh save some time and maybe know where to shoot instead of so yeah, you're actually right if we are sending it to uh Mr.

Anderson, and then uh with the full recommendation on the board, and then if you go there and they know that we also have the recommendation on the board, then it possibly will answer their phone.

So now you're attacking it from two different plan.

That's what I was um well that and that's what I wanted to make sure that we were on the same page about this three percent thing that what I presented was not a three percent increase.

It was mainly looking at the other markets in the state, and including Alabama and Georgia, and to kind of mimic or get close to the rest of the surrounding areas.

The one on here is just the three percent.

I just trying to track the money, they say.

Yeah, three three percent is what they've got on here.

What I what I suggested wasn't involved in a percentage calculation, it was involved in a pricing of comparisons of the markets around us.

Knoxville, Atlanta, Birmingham, um, Nashville, Atlanta, Knoxville, yeah.

Just the major cities and Memphis around us, all in the in the email and the PDF files that are on there.

Kind of shows all the different cities.

Anyway, just wanted to make sure we're on the same page so I don't go to the city council and say, well, this is what it was.

They're doing three percent.

So just want to make sure.

Obviously, I was watching on YouTube as I was trying to commute here, and I guess the city attorney's office doesn't have any more information about where it lies.

Can we get him here to a meeting at some point?

He works in the in this in this building, you know.

Uh I mean, he's not been here.

Zoning typically is here for these top meetings for all things uh hinged around approvals, and and they they never can make it to our 330 meeting.

That was a request that was made a long time ago, and city of council city city uh mayor's office had made a claim that they were gonna try to come to all of our meetings.

And if if all these things come around him, won't you stay at home and bring him in here?

That'd be great because you don't give us any answers.

You know, we put playing kick the can down the road every time you're wasting my time, this man's time, and everybody else is here when we can't get answers for things.

If you come back with some decent information, we might have something to to rely on for next month.

You know, we get attention with all the board members, and sometimes you got the mayor, sometimes you got the police chief.

If not, you got his next in charge.

You know, on Tuesday night, we we gain more ground at city council than we do at the board that we're supposed to be here to represent our businesses in the in the city.

Yes, because the city council has the authority.

This board is not we are able to make recommendations.

Anderson works for the mayor's office, and he's in charge of all 50 plus boards in this in this city.

So if the the next next in charge probably be the city attorney's office, let's try something different and ask for him and zoning to be here at this board meeting.
