Good morning. This is the county commission meeting for Tuesday December 17th, 16th. Okay. We have the rabbi come up with invocation, please. Chairman, this is Rabbi Levy Harleigh from Chabad of Southern Nevada. Almighty God, we ask that you bless our commissioners and all who serve our county with wisdom, courage, and empathy. May they lead with vision, listen with understanding, and act with justice and compassion, serving every individual and family here in Clark County. As a rabbi Habal of Southern Nevada and the executive direct our friendship circle, I strive to see the divine spark within every human being, regardless of regardless of age, ability, or circumstance. Through our programs, we strive to build a community where everyone is valued, included, and celebrated. Today, on the second day of Hanukkah, we celebrate the miracle of the menorah in the holy temple in Jerusalem over two thousand years ago. When a single day's supply of oil miraculously lasted for eight days. During this eight-day period of Hanukkah, they will attend. I'm gonna let him tell us, but if there's a menorah being lit in southern Nevada, chances are the dancing dreidel are there this week. That includes here at the government center last night, uh, and nearly every uh incredible landmark we have in southern Nevada. They make the occasion special for those who live here and for those who are visiting, and I'm delighted to get to recognize them for the work that they put in for the leadership that they give and for the light they bring to all of Clark County. Today we have the pleasure of declaring Dancing Dradel Day in Clark County. I was hoping we might have some footage of Manager Schiller, who uh did quite a dance. If anybody saw that last night, we will find the footage and present it for sure. Uh but now I'd like to give the microphone over to you, Rabbi Harlig, if you could speak a little bit of the significance of Hanukkah and what the Draydols here represent. Thank you so much to all the commissioners, Commissioner Naft. First of all, I don't get any credit. I'm just their booking manager. These these guys have been dancing and singing all over Southern Nevada. Hanukkah, the message of Hanukkah applies today, perhaps more than ever. How a little bit of light dispels a disproportionate amount of darkness. You go to a dark room, you light a small little candle, the whole room lights up. That's the message of Hanukkah. Freedom of religion applies to all religions to practice what you believe in freely. People asked me after the terrible terrorist attack in Australia. How will we respond? And our response is to redouble our efforts in spreading light. Increase in acts of goodness and kindness, be kinder to our friends, and through that, the light of the manobra will light up the world, make the world a better place, make the world a brighter place. Commissioners, your next item is to present a proclamation to honor the role of the Nevada Consular Corps in Clark County. Commissioner Sagerboom. Thank you. Uh would y'all come up, please? Um of the things we are is as I've talked about many times as a uh community of immigrants, and one of the great things we have here are approximately 30 uh consul members from different countries representing different countries that help with the the locals that live here from that country or from people that visit from that country that need help. But today we're gonna honor them. We have, I think about 12 or 15. But I just want to appreciate what they do. It's a voluntary job, except for from uh Mexico, which is a real job.
