On March 21st, I had the pleasure of kicking off the Great Chef Run 5K at James Regional Sports Complex for the third year.

This annual event, hosted by the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association Foundation brings together community members and resort operators to raise scholarship funds for future hospitality leaders.

Thanks to everyone who participated and who volunteered to help make this event such a success.

The following weekend, our District A community centers hosted two spring-themed family-friendly events.

First, Helen Meyer held our spring family fun fair and children's mini market, where young entrepreneurs showcased businesses they had developed through a class at the center.

Meanwhile, at Silverado Ranch Community Center, we hosted our spring spectacular, featuring music, food, games, and egg hunts for kids of all ages.

Thanks to our parks and recreation teams for making both of these events so enjoyable for our community.

On April 4th, I hosted the annual Echo Trail Park Day of Play.

Hundreds of community members joined us once again this year for food, music, games, and a park cleanup in conjunction with our partners at Get Outdoors Nevada.

This year, attendees were also able to meet with Real Property Management and Parks and Recreation Teams to learn more about the community center we announced coming to that site in 2028.

I'll ask that our guests here today on behalf of the Parkinsons Foundation join us up here on the Dais uh as we present to the Parkinsons Foundation uh proclamation recognizing their efforts and thanking them for the research they conduct, the education work that they do, and the community supportive services that they offer for those living with the disease here in Clark County and their umbrella organization nationally.

Each year, 90,000 people are diagnosed with Parkinson's.

The disease presents differently from person to person, but symptoms can include tremors, slowness of movement, and rigid, balance issues, cognitive impairment, and dementia.

But on Saturday, April 18th, the Parkinson's Foundation will be hosting Moving Day Las Vegas at Clark County's James Regional Sports Complex.

Moving Day is their annual fundraiser and their walk, uniting people and partners to help the foundation provide vital resources, deliver quality of care to 365,000 people living with Parkinson's in the United States.

There are over a million people in the United States living with Parkinson's disease, including an estimated 7,000 just here in Clark County.

It's a progressive neurological condition, and it impacts not just movement, but independence, mental health, and quality of life.

As someone who has personally cared for a person living with Parkinson's, I know how deeply this disease affects not just the people of uh that are diagnosed with it, but also their families.

This proclamation helps bring visibility much needed to the Parkinson to Parkinson's disease and reminds those affected that they are not alone.

I am honored to be joined here today by some Parkinson's Foundation volunteer ambassadors, who are people living with Parkinsons in our community whose strength and resilience inspire our work every day.
