The Clark County District Attorney's Office held a public fact-finding review on September 3, 2026, concerning the death of Fabian Leon, who was shot by Henderson Police Department officers on February 19, 2026. The review is required under Clark County Ordinance Chapter 2.12 after a preliminary determination that no criminal prosecution of the officers is appropriate. Presiding Officer Todd Leventhal oversaw the proceedings. Chief Deputy District Attorney Haley Wilming presented the case, calling Detective Eddie Vega of the Henderson Police Department's robbery homicide unit as the sole witness. My name is Todd Leventhal, and I'll be the presiding over today's proceedings. This review is being held because the Clark County District Attorney's Office has made a preliminary determination that no criminal prosecution of the officers involved in the death of Fabi and Leon is appropriate. Clark County Ordinance Chapter 2.12 requires a public review following such a determination. This is not a trial. Chief Deputy District Attorney Haley Wilming will present today's fact-finding review on behalf of the district attorney's office. She will determine the witness or witnesses to be called. Members of the public observing this review may subs submit proposed written questions on forms located uh in the back of this room and present it to one of the officers. I will ask the questions unless I determine that it is irrelevant, redundant, or an abuse of the review process. Uh as a police officer for the city of Henderson Police Department. And what's your current assignment with Henderson Pete? A detective in our robbery homicide unit. How long have you done that job? Uh about two and a half years. And how long have you been with Henderson PD total? Uh almost eleven years. You said almost eleven. Yes. As part of your responsibilities in robbery homicide, are you sometimes assigned to investigate officer involved shootings? Yes. Can you tell us generally what the protocol is when an officer involved shooting occurs? Uh typically it's obviously patrol, uh, that it's involved in a officer involved shooting. After the scene is rendered safe and secured, notifications are made to our supervisor chain of command, and then detectives are called out to the scene where we assume the investigation.
