Watch over the young women who are here tonight to witness the proclamation of the uh year of the girl by this city and lead them as they lead us when their time comes. Draw us away from our own points of view and help us to discern what is your point of view. Guard us from the distractions of the excitement of the season. Teach us humility and the vision to identify the gifts of those with whom we disagree. Grant us courage for the facing of the future. Spur the members of this council and all in this room to speak the truth as they understand it and to ask forgiveness for the mistakes that come with being human.
