But that is totally inappropriate, and I believe it violates the First Amendment in equal protection because some person misbehaved in the past, you treat people differently and won't let them speak because you all don't do this at city council, you just get rid of the misbehaving person, and you don't apply it to everybody else.

So I thank you, City Council, for not responding in such a First Amendment adverse way.

But would you member young as at large member at large number one?

Would you please ask LPD to look into the legality of what they're doing?

And also, I would like to say that I'd like to thank the lovely person from the demolition department who came out the other day and boarded up 296 Smith, which is owned by the people who want to build North End Landing, and they don't take care of their property.

They still have another building that's collapsing in the back, open to trespass with a bunch of debris that's been sitting there since at least 20 uh 23.

Detroit City Council approved the request to accept and appropriate this Friday on June 13, 2023.

This request is to execute a grant amendment for time extension for to the period.

Wayne County requires council authorization to execute is grant.

The original grant date was September 30th, 2025.

The grant amount will not change.

If the approval is granted, the grant and date will be extended.

September 30th, 2026.

Just wanted to uh say thank you to the senior task force.

We had an excellent senior movie day uh last Wednesday.

We had over 600 seniors come out to watch the new Denzel Washington movie, and as the senior task force always indicates, they like a movie with a strong black male lead, and they got that with the new Denzel movie.

And so we had over 600 seniors.

We had great resources.

We had a number of elected officials that came out, so it was a fantastic day.

Just want to really thank my colleague uh Councilwoman Waters for co-hosting that event with us, and it was fantastic.

Also just want to remind everybody to please go get your will as state and your power of attorney Lady Bird deeds done for free by the city of Detroit.

We are saving 400,000 a month of equity in Detroit properties through these estate planning workshops.

We have that many people going and getting their estate plans completed.

And so right now the city of Detroit, and these dollars are not permanent, and so they will sunset next June 30th of 2026.

I hope everybody had a productive and wonderful August.

Uh, first, I just wanted to say that I am saddened to hear the passing of Mr.

Edward Deeb.

Uh, he will truly be missed.

Um, I just want to also say the last day of produce pickup from Buttle will be Wednesday, September 10th.

You know, we always have, you know, uh, where we feed people over there at Bustle.

So September 10th will be the last day we're gonna be doing that be this Wednesday, September 10th.

I just want to go briefly over some of the things that during recess, my staff and I were extremely busy throughout the community.

These are some of the events throughout the city that we attended.

Uh those areas and events included.

We attended the bishop and jurisdictional prelate, Zachary Hicks Holy Convocation of the historic first ecclesiastical jurisdiction of Michigan for COJ Spirit of Detroit award was presented for that.

Luncheon with Sadie with the Sadie Palmer 400 Study Group, which is a 76-year-old organization of professional black women that was also provided Spirit of Detroit Award.

And then we attended the retirement for Captain David Zarif from Wayne State University and Corporal Audrey Morris, DPD, also provided Spirit Detroit Award for them as well.

And a ribbon cutting for the Chandler Park Field House Dome at District 4 with a councilwoman uh Letitia Johnson, thank you to her, and a ribbon cutting for the Banshell in District 2.

That was a lot of fun.

Then I went to the Mac alive at 35 Parade.

That's in uh member uh Sheffield's district, Council President of Sheffield's district.

So thank you for that.

So uh thank you so much, Mr.

Benson, for that.

Um then I attended uh history in the hood with Field Street Block Club District 5.

Talk about my father.

That was good.

And then I went to the back to school event at Samaritan Center with the destination for greatness group.

So that was really good as well.

And uh also sponsored the National Night Out.

Uh it was a huge success for August the 5th.

So we did a lot of good things, and uh just want to say thank you, everybody, for the opportunity to serve and appreciate that.
