The Edmond City Council held a special meeting on October 12, 2026, to discuss and act on appointing a new acting city attorney and approving a contract for those services. The meeting included an executive session to discuss employment of the acting city attorney.
I'd like to call the special city council meeting on October 12th, 2026 to order. Item two on the agenda is executive session to discuss the employment of the acting city attorney is authorized by pursuant to 25 OS Section 307 B1. Can I get a motion? So move. I have a motion and a second, cast your vote. We're in executive session. We'll be back in a few minutes, hopefully. Motion to return from executive session. So move. Second. We're back in session. Item three is discussion and consideration of appointing Laura K. McDebitt with Williams Box Fource and Bullard PC as acting city attorney. And I just want to make a comment here that when we took action two weeks ago, I made a commitment to Taylor Clark when he agreed to be acting city attorney that because of the workload that our legal department has and other commitments that Taylor has, that I would find us as quickly as I could an acting city attorney to take over this role while we're continuing the employment review. So that is what I have done. We've brought it to the council. As you can tell, we just had a rather lengthy discussion. And so now we're on item three. I have a motion. Second. And a second, cast your vote. Motion passes 5-0. Item four, discussion and consideration of approval of the contract with Laura K. McDevitt and Williams Box Four Shea and Bullard PC to provide services as acting city attorney up to 40,000. Mayor, I've moved to approve the contract with Laura McDibbitt and Williams Box Fourcy and Bullard PC to provide services as acting city attorney up to 40,000. Second. Motion passes 5-0. I'd entertain a motion to adjourn. So move, Mayor. Second. I have a motion and a second, cast your vote. We're adjourned.
