Elk Grove Planning Commission Regular Meeting – May 2, 2024
The Elk Grove Planning Commission met on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 6:00 PM in the City Council Chambers. The meeting included approval of the consent calendar and a public hearing for a major design review of a private clubhouse in an age-restricted community. Senior Planner Kyra Killingsworth presented the staff recommendation, noting that the project complies with the General Plan, Southeast Policy Area, Zoning Code, and Climate Action Plan. The applicant, Scott Johnson of Sierra Planning and Development (on behalf of Taylor Morrison), expressed appreciation for staff support and agreed to the revised conditions of approval (modification of conditions 35 and 50). Commissioner O'Con asked why the project required a public hearing if it was a private gated community; staff clarified that any design review over 10,000 square feet must go to the Planning Commission.

- Approval of The Lodge at Esplanade Madeira Ranch: The commission adopted a resolution finding no further environmental review required under CEQA Guidelines Sections 15162 and 15183, and approved the Major Design Review based on the findings and conditions of approval (including the modifications from the supplemental green sheet). I will call to order the Elk Row Planning Commission regular meeting of Thursday, May 2nd, 2024 at 6 p.m. Let me start with the land acknowledgement. We honor, respect, and acknowledge Elkrow's first inhabitants, the Plains Meywoke, who lived as sovereign caretakers of this land and these waterways since time immemorial. We commemorate and advocate for their descendants, the Wilton Rancheria tribe, the only federally recognized tribe in Sacramento County who endured because of the bravery, resilience, and determination of their ancestors, tribal members, and leaders.
