Summary

Elk Grove Planning Commission Meeting - June 4, 2026

The Elk Grove Planning Commission met on June 4, 2026, beginning with a land acknowledgement, pledge of allegiance, and approval of the agenda. The main action item was a tentative parcel map for 10660 Calvine Road. The commission also heard a director's report on upcoming cancellations and other city planning matters.

Public Comments & Testimony

  • Ada Sean Maril, owner of property behind the subject parcel, expressed concern that the proposed new driveway for the project might interfere with their existing driveway, which has suffered damage from unauthorized use. The applicant clarified that the new driveway would be on the easterly side of the property, separate from Maril's driveway on the westerly side, and would not affect it.

Discussion Items

  • Item 5.1 – 10660 Calvine Road Tentative Parcel Map (PLNG 25-011): The applicant proposes to split a five-acre parcel into two lots (two acres and three acres) within the AR-2 zone. The existing homes will remain; the smaller lot will have limited buildable area due to a floodway. Staff found the project exempt from CEQA (Class 15 – Minor Land Division) and recommended approval. The applicant's engineer explained that a new driveway easement on the east side would not affect the neighbor's driveway.
  • Director's Report: The director noted that a previously targeted item for June 18 is not ready, and recommended cancellation of the June 18 and July 2 meetings (July 2 falls near the Independence Day holiday). He reported that the Zoning Administrator approved the Survey Road Warehouse Design Review project. Upcoming City Council matters include the Calvine Point mixed-use retail and storage project (June 24) and the Sheldon Road rezoning map (June 24).

Key Outcomes

  • Motion to approve Item 5.1: Commissioner moved to adopt the resolution finding the project exempt from CEQA and approving the tentative parcel map, subject to conditions. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously (all in favor, no opposed or abstentions).
  • The Chair concurred with the director's recommendation to cancel the June 18 and July 2 planning commission meetings.
  • No other items were discussed, and the meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
