On the agenda, we uh we're gonna call it to order.

I notice we have a visitor in the audience.

I just wanted to make sure because I missed it last time.

Noting that we have a quorum.

We'll have a motion to approve June's minutes.

I'd like to make a comment.

I'm not going to oppose the minutes because they're here, although I would encourage more detail in future meetings.

This is lacking detail on a lot of things that are important.

We discuss the annual dinner.

You know, where is it?

When is it?

It's not, it's not a part.

There's there's we don't have to do every detail, but I I'm I'm not I'm just encouraging that.

Can we have minutes that have a little bit more detail than what's presented before us for the future?

But I I'm fine with making a motion to approve the minutes.

We're gonna go with the sponsorship requests.

We have one.

Um unfortunately this did get missed for last month's meeting.

Uh it is the Women's Equality Day luncheon on Wednesday, August the 26th.

Um there are sponsorship opportunities as well as uh ticket uh donation opportunities.

So um we have in the past contributed at a a different level.

I believe we've we've given it like they had a $500 level.

I see that they no longer have that.

Um but it's a leadership sponsor.

Oh, women it's for two tickets though.

We had a whole did we have more than we're gonna table?

Yeah, we've been able to do that a little bit differently.

Um so those are the options, the um the leadership sponsors for 10 a table of 10, um, or we can purchase individual tickets.

Diane, let me ask.

I know that's the same time as our next meeting.

Um we have uh inquired about dates available to change our meeting.

Um and it looks like there's the availability the day after our normal meeting date to have a meeting uh on Thursday the 27th.

Uh we could possibly have this room at uh 9.30 until 1030.

I'm sorry.

Um, uh 1030 until 11.30.

There is a public works meeting that comes in here at 12 o'clock.

So we generally you know don't want to run right up against it.

So 1030 until 11.30 on Thursday the 27th, if that's uh an option for you.

Or um again, you know, that's just uh information for I guess for you to consider making your decision or um however you want to proceed with the sponsorship.

Um it was a different amount.

It wasn't the 1500s.

It wasn't the 15th.

I'm just curious.

I I wouldn't mind going to that luncheon and maybe there are others, and we that might be a backdoor way of figuring out if we had four commission members that wanted to go.

That would be $500 worth of tickets.

Diane, you may want to go and even some of your staff, but and there may be others that can go.

Uh so I think I may be able to go.

Yeah, and I would go too.

I I make a motion that we um provide um the Commission on Human Relations does a leadership sponsorship for this women's equality day luncheon or $1,500.

Put a motion on the floor uh that we provide the the leadership sponsorship of $1,500 by Commissioner Henka.

I second the motion.

I know I did just get one, I believe yesterday, uh, for the uh passport and international sorre, and that one is in October.

Because this was going to be a short meeting, and I just got it.

I thought we could table this one until August.

I think it would be enough time to consider that one.

Because I didn't get a chance to get it out to you to consider.

Um should me.

Um let's see.

I did want to comment on the annual dinner.

Um we did try and identify some different dates.

Uh they were not available uh for Reverend Barber's schedule because of his uh teaching schedule at Yale.

He could not accept the dates that we provided.

I provided additional dates, and it just became, you know, where we didn't hear anything, they were still waiting to hear from his office.

That I just felt we were probably wait to be told that he could not do that again.

So we decided to just go back to our October 2nd date.

And uh because we just got the news release out this week.

I just felt we couldn't wait any longer.

So we are on track.

Uh, we'll get some invitations out.

Um it made the newspaper, I think, on Monday.

Uh we have some social media stuff out there.

Uh we already got our first community sponsor, I think the first day.

Uh so hopefully the sponsorships will continue to come in.

Would appreciate any of your support on getting uh the word out about sponsorships.

Uh but we're on track.

And another thing, please, please encourage people to um thank you.

Here we go.

Nominate someone for uh one of the mayor's celebration of human rights awards.

Um the deadline is going to come up pretty quickly.

It is August the 28th.

Uh we're going to try and hit the um, you know, the morning shows and all that to get the word out, but uh we're going to you know have a short window to uh put all the pieces together.

Have a quick question, because I saw the Facebook post announcing the dinner, and I can share that.

Is there a separate post about nominating for the different awards that we could share also with links and all that?

Present so at this time I guess we're gonna have a motion to adjourn this meeting so we can all over that's all okay I don't think she had anything else and then uh her report on the report but that may be in the open discussion I do have a quick remar um I guess uh a remark just um to be active um we have our social status of African American males meeting tomorrow at 3 30 p.m right here in room 310 so commissioners public um anyone in the public that would like to join our meeting we will be here tomorrow located in room 301 at 330 p.m central time um I think that that is it uh the we can motion to adjourn unless you want to go to your report um I think if there are any questions um I'll be happy to answer them but no I'd move that we adjourn a second motion and second that we adjourn the meeting all in favor aye uh I would like to uh make sure the records reflect that Commissioner Xavier Burton before we adjourn.
