The Evansville Board of Public Safety convened on August 26, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the Civic Center Complex Room 301 for its 16th scheduled meeting of the year. The board addressed routine approvals, departmental reports, and several community event permits. All votes were unanimous unless noted.
All right, welcome to the uh City of Evansville Board of Public Safety meeting. It is the 16th scheduled meeting of the year, I believe. And uh before we get started, we're going to rise for the Pledge of Allegiance. And to the Republic for which it stands underground, individual with liberty and justice for all. Okay, we will have a quorum today so we can do the business. And uh first up, we're gonna start with some old business. Uh some items that we approve by consensus vote to uh be ratified here at the meeting. We have two dumpster requests as they are listed on the agenda at 1116 Southeast First Street and 1607 West Missouri Street. And uh I move we make a motion to go ahead and ratify those. I will second. All in favor say aye. Aye. Same sign opposed. So those are now approved and ratified. Starting out with business, new business, uh we have business with the Evansville Business Authority, Dave Rector. Excuse me, building authority, Dave Rector. State your name and address, Mr. Rector for the afternoon, Dave Rector Evansville, Randover County Building Authority. Uh have a request uh as you have in other past occasions or security supervisors, security guards and supervisors are appointed special policemen. I talked with Chief Smith, and he agrees and is okay to appoint these gentlemen, special policemen. Uh guys in Western. And uh I would ask that you do that. What would their duties be? Excuse me. What would their duties be? Uh are in this building and all of our buildings. They make patrols, rounds, uh, check all the buildings, all the locks, all the doors, and the supervisors uh do the same, but they're in a supervisory position. Okay. Any other questions? All right. With that, I will move. We make a motion to approve the request by Mr. Rector and the Evansville Building Authority for the appointment of the three new security people. I will second.
