Well, I've already banged the gavel.

0:11

It's so exciting.

0:45

We're on.

0:46

Okay.

0:47

Having banged the gavel, we will call this meeting of the Board of Public Works to order.

0:52

We'll get started with old business.

0:56

Can I get a motion for approval of the September 10th, 2026 BPW minutes?

1:01

Motion to approve.

1:02

Second.

1:03

All in favor?

1:04

Aye.

1:04

Aye.

1:05

And next up, the City of Evansville City Cemeteries requests approval to open bids for paving at Oak Hill and Locust Cemeteries.

1:14

Can I get a motion for approval for opening those bids?

1:17

Motion to approve.

1:18

Second.

1:19

All in favor?

1:20

Aye.

1:20

Aye.

1:20

And those will be open now, and we will come back in other business to review.

1:28

Moving on to new business, the City of Evansville City Engineers requests approval of the agreement with Norfolk Southern Railroad Railway Company regarding the railroad tracks at the crossing at or near MP3.71 EB at North Green River Road.

1:46

This is DOT number 719911U in Evansville, Indiana.

1:51

Because the railway is not currently operating rail traffic over the tracks at this crossing, city has requested that the railway work with the city to temporarily pave over the railroad tracks at the crossing to allow for more efficient vehicular movement across the crossing.

2:08

This is a part of the 2026 paving project.

2:11

Closing the crossing would also require approval from NDOT and the Federal Highway Administration.

2:16

Brian Mundy, what else can you tell us about this?

2:18

Um just that we've been working on this agreement for several months.

2:22

We finally got it uh straightened out.

2:24

Marco's reviewed it, and um, if we can get this signed, um we're gonna do everything we can to get this crossing removed and paved over by the end of the paving season, which will be the end of November.

2:36

That is great work.

2:38

I know that's uh difficult thing sometimes.

2:40

Uh any other questions from the board?

2:42

No.

2:42

No.

2:42

Thank you for doing that.

2:43

Yeah.

2:44

I appreciate it.

2:46

Can I get a motion for approval?

2:47

Motion to approve.

2:48

Second.

2:48

All in favor?

2:49

Aye.

2:50

Aye.

2:51

And the City of Evansville City Engineers next requests approval for the agreement with Norfolk Southern Railway Company regarding railroad tracks at the crossing at or near MP4.75 EB at North Burkhart Road.

3:04

This is DOT number 719908L, Evansville, Indiana, because the railway is not currently operating, rail traffic over the tracks at the crossing, and cities requested that the railway work with the city to temporarily pave over the railroad tracks at the crossing to allow more efficient vehicular movement.

3:21

And this is a part of that same 2026 paving project.

3:25

This would also require approval from NDOT and the Federal Highway Administration.

3:30

Do I hear a motion for approval?

3:32

Motion to approve.

3:33

Second.

3:33

All in favor?

3:34

Aye.

3:34

Aye.

3:35

Next up, the City of Evansville City Engineers requests approval of change order number one for project number 24-012 with JBI construction for cross point and Indiana RAB for an increase of $31,941.85s.

3:53

New total cost is $2,536,932 and 47 cents.

3:58

Brian Monday, what's this about?

4:00

Yeah, so um this was uh we the original contract called for uh temporary asphalt for temporary traffic control while they're constructing the roundabout.

4:11

Um in lieu of that, we decided in order to keep the project on track to use uh what's called Class C concrete, which is high early strength concrete, so that we could um go ahead and construct half of the roundabout, move traffic over to that half of the roundabout rather than do the temporary asphalt.

4:30

So yes, it is an increase of 31 almost 32,000, but at the end of the project, we're gonna be taking off about $50,000 worth of asphalt.

4:39

So um in the end it'll be a net deduct.
