Speaker 3

1:01

Good evening.

1:02

A couple general items to start the report with.

1:05

The City of Fitchburg utilities are currently flushing fire hydrants located on dead end streets through uh July twenty second.

1:14

So the the hydrant flushing is an important part of maintaining the city's water distribution system to help ensure water quality.

1:22

So residents in the affected areas on these dead end streets may notice some temporary discoloration of their water or reduced water pressure while the flushing is taking place.

1:34

So if they do notice the discoloration, we just um recommend them running cold water for several minutes until it clears and consider doing laundry in the evening.

Unassigned speaker

1:48

Uh

Speaker 3

1:48

it's just through the end of this week through uh July twenty-fourth.

Unassigned speaker

1:58

And

Speaker 3

1:58

then next up, it is road construction season.

2:02

So there are multiple road closures throughout the city, and the city does have a road closure map.

2:09

It's a GIS web-based application that I can show you.

2:25

Maybe I have the wrong card.

4:19

Yes, sir, that's it.

4:21

So you'll go to the city's website, scroll down to the bottom of the page and uh hit the GIS maps, and then you'll open the Fitchburg Road Closure GIS application and up will pop kind of this screen.

4:35

And all the the red arrows you see are streets with some form of either a detour or a uh lane closure or a full road closure.

4:45

So if you click on any one of those, up will pop data regarding the the closure.

Unassigned speaker

4:54

And I'll give you the reason for the closure, kind of a description and the start and end dates of the road closure.

Speaker 3

5:08

Any particular questions with that or any any of the closures shown?

5:13

Uh right now, kind of on the screen is the Hillside Heights neighborhood.

5:18

And the contractor went in there, I believe, towards the end of last week to start removing the existing asphalt and re-grading the roads for the repaving as part of the 2026 street resurfacing contract.

Unassigned speaker

5:38

What

Speaker 1

5:38

kind of a leg is there between reality and this map?

5:41

Is it in uh the order of minutes or hours

Unassigned speaker

5:44

or

Speaker 1

5:45

the next

Speaker 3

5:46

morning?

5:47

I believe it's within minutes that it that it updates.

Speaker 1

5:51

Okay.

Unassigned speaker

5:54

So

Speaker 1

5:54

I guess if this is one of your normal routes to or from work, you could you should be able to check right before you go and it should be

Speaker 3

6:01

accurate.

6:02

And uh as I mentioned previous meetings too, this also to Apple Maps and Google Maps.

6:08

Will if you are utilizing any of those mapping services on your phone, that it would reroute you around these streets as part of that.

6:28

Any questions?

6:31

All right, next I'll kind of update everyone on construction projects going on.

6:37

I'll start with our 2026 street resurfacing project.

6:41

Payne and Dolan is the contractor on there, and they've completed all the concrete work for that project.

6:49

Uh next, they're gonna start working on removing the existing asphalt and and grading the the roads, and we're looking to start paving in the the next week or two for those projects or for the the streets.
