1:09

welcome to the September 10th meeting of the Commission on Aging Well.

1:15

Start out by looking at the minutes.

1:17

I'd like to have them approve.

1:18

Any deletions or additions.

1:21

If not, motion to approve.

1:26

Second.

Speaker 3

1:26

I said.

Speaker 2

1:29

Alright, good.

1:31

So we're gonna leap right into uh number four agenda items, and really it's a continuation

Unassigned speaker

1:38

of

Speaker 2

1:39

what we were talking about last month.

Speaker 4

1:40

So yeah, so um, you know, as we discussed in the past, like just still with this restructure learning about different roles and responsibilities and uh um the recreation roles are the the least familiar to to you guys, and I'm still learning as well.

1:57

So um I know we had to cut chat off last time uh because the meeting room was booked.

2:02

Um and he um graciously agreed to zoom in this morning, even though this is a vacation day for him.

2:10

Um, but I also thought it was important to hear from Evelyn and they can also tag team too.

2:14

So I'm gonna have Evelyn kick it

Unassigned speaker

2:16

off

Speaker 4

2:16

with her roles and responsibilities, and then it might uh stimulate some other questions we didn't have an opportunity to ask Chad the last time um or just have a discussion with both of them.

2:27

So I'll let you kick it off.

Speaker 5

2:29

All right.

Speaker 4

2:29

Uh

Speaker 5

2:30

good morning everyone.

2:30

My name is Evelyn.

2:31

I'm the community center and recreation coordinator for the city.

2:35

And um roles and responsibilities, I feel like there's a lot of them.

2:40

Um Chad and I, we kind of do anything and everything from park shelter rentals to the community center room rentals.

2:51

We're also doing a lot of coordinating of programming.

2:54

So typically we do a lot of youth sports, um, some enrichment programs.

2:58

We just wrapped up

Speaker 4

2:59

summer,

Speaker 5

3:00

so we did summer camps, um,

Unassigned speaker

3:02

and

Speaker 5

3:02

then we also work with some organizations where they provide the programming and the staff, but then we provide the space and then kind of the admin side of taking registration, stuff like that, um, and then also communicating with parents like where to go, how do you register?

Unassigned speaker

3:20

Uh,

Speaker 5

3:21

and then I also do a lot of the marketing, so whether that's Facebook posts, email blasts, making infographics.

Unassigned speaker

3:28

I think I don't know.

Speaker 5

3:29

What am I missing, Chad?

Speaker 6

3:34

Um, I mean, this is kind of just a nuance type thing, but um, I had some notes down um when I was there last month, and just a couple things that I didn't get to um was during the summer.

3:46

We sell um what's called Wisconsin Park and Rec uh discount tickets.

3:53

So we've got tickets to various attractions like Mount Olympus, uh Noah's Ark, Milwaukee County Zoo, uh Land of Natura.

4:02

So uh folks can purchase those tickets in our office um at a at a pretty good discount uh from the the gate price.

4:11

Um I think this past year we sold uh probably upwards of like eight hundred tickets.

4:18

Uh so you know, when you consider most people are coming into the office and maybe they're buying two, four, you know, six tickets, uh, that gives you an idea of you know just kind of the foot traffic that we have related to that.

4:31

Um, and then we also do sell um the state trail passes, uh, the Wisconsin Strait, excuse me, Wisconsin State Trail Passes.

4:39

So again, kind of a nuanced thing.
