I have a son who is currently at Natoma Station and will be starting Folsom Middle next year.

And I hope that we'll be able to continue working with the police department and the school districts to continue providing the school resource officers.

I believe this is important for several reasons.

First, they provide a visible presence at the school, which can deter crime and hopefully make students feel and staff feel safer.

Second, they can all help to enforce laws and school rules, and they can intervene in situations that may escalate into more serious problems.

Stephanie Henry with the community development department here this evening to um give a presentation on several of the new housing laws.

As you're aware, over the past several years, the state legislature has been really busy passing housing laws to try to make housing to increase housing production as well as to reduce barriers to production.

And this year was no exception.

In fact, this year included this year included 41 laws related to housing.

Not all of those impact fulsome, and I'm not gonna cover all of those this evening, but I did wanna highlight several.

So during this presentation, I'm going to examine some of the most significant laws that were signed in effect this year and kind of go through them based on a category.

So we'll look at resid uh laws that are um centered around residential development on commercially zoned land, streamlining, parking reform, accessory dwelling units, density, and then also laws pertaining to housing element annual review annual progress report.

Folsom City Council Special and Regular Meeting - December 13, 2022
