Approval of Minutes

- Key programs attended by board members included: Clyburn piano concerts, musical story time with a Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra member (Southwest Regional Branch), robotics programs, adult painting workshops, and community events like Neighborhood Night Out.
- The board rotated its bi-monthly meetings to various library branches to gain firsthand insight into branch operations and patron needs. Special presentations covered collection management and employee growth.
- Looking ahead, the board supports the new downtown library branch planning, upcoming strategic planning for the next five years, and the 2026 bond initiatives for library expansion and innovation.
- Councilmember comment: A councilmember noted increased circulation and robust attendance at library programs in their district, and that materials checked out average five items per resident of Fort Worth.
Introduction of New Neighborhood Program Coordinator
- Anderson Stout introduced Jesus Morillo as the new Neighborhood Program Coordinator in the Neighborhood Improvement Program within Neighborhood Services.
- Jesus Morillo holds a BA in political science from Fisk University and a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard University. His background includes serving as a Grants Coordinator for the U.S. Congress Office of New Mexico Congressional Delegation, a Community Planning and Development Specialist at HUD, and work at the USDA Office of Partnerships and Public Engagement.
- Morillo expressed gratitude for the welcome and noted that his team has scheduled quarter-two meetings with council offices to provide status updates on Neighborhood Improvement Programs (NIPs). He committed to serving the citizens of Fort Worth expeditiously.
