The City Council is the sole legislative body of the city of Framingham and is therefore responsible for passing city ordinances. The City Council is made up of 11 members who exercise the legislative powers of Framingham. Two of these members are known as counselors at large, and nine members are known as district counselors. The city council serves as a link between the citizens of Framingham and their municipal government. Counselors help constituents by connecting them to resources, services, and city departments. First, I just want to welcome our two new counselors, uh, Council Mary Cay Feeney from District 3, Councillor John Stefanini from District 8. Um, there's a couple ways we can do this, so I'm gonna leave it up to the council. Um the Jada says the oldest serving member can run the meeting. Our rules say if the incumbent chair is still in place, he can chair the meeting or her. So you tell me what the preferences of the board. The incumbent uh the charter prevails. If there's a conflict between the rules and the charter, the charter prevails. Okay. Council King, then you're in judge. I would second that. Okay, so it's not the longest serving counselor, it's the longest serving counselor than age. In age, correct. So it wouldn't be me since I'm considerably ill. No worries. I just I got you. So, Mr. Chairman, I'm slightly unprepared. Do you have an agenda? I guess we'll talk to you. Yep. Thank you. Isn't he the longest serving? He's the longest. He's in charge. I'm the oldest of the two longest serving counselors. My age has had quite a bit of highlight here today. So far more sprides. If there's two, right. Otherwise, as long as serving, but we have two. Mr. Same age, we'd arm wrestle. Okay, so uh Liani, welcome to the two councillors. So uh the next item on the agenda would be the election of a chair and a vice chair of the uh city council.
