• Proclamation – ALS Awareness Month: Vice Mayor Mary Ann Gibson read the proclamation designating May 2026 as ALS Awareness Month. The proclamation highlighted the impact of ALS, noting that every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed and someone passes away from the disease, and that the ALS Association has committed over $154 million to research. The board unanimously adopted the proclamation.
• Beer Board – Temporary Beer Permit for Memphis Oral School for the Deaf: The board convened as the Beer Board for a public hearing. The Memphis Oral School for the Deaf requested a temporary permit to serve beer at their "Speak Easy Hidden in Plain Sight" event on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 11:59 PM at 7887 Poplar Avenue. She noted that based on her calculations, of the approximately $3.7 million in total allocations, only about $605,000 came from city tax dollars, with the remainder from state and federal grants.
