Special Recognition – Beautification Commission Award (July 2026)
- The Beautification Commission awarded its July 2026 recognition to the Neshoba Plantation neighborhood for its entrance landscaping, including a floral bed designed as the American flag. Alderman Scott Sanders, the beautification liaison, described the entrance’s “established park-like charm” and “highly creative patriotic floral bed.” Several board members expressed appreciation for the neighborhood’s upkeep and history. The presentation included remarks from Alderman Sanders, the Mayor, and Alderman Brian Ulicky.
Beer Board Public Hearing – Temporary Beer Permit for Memphis Youth Athletics
- The Board convened as the City of Germantown Beer Board to consider a temporary beer permit application from Memphis Youth Athletics (MYA) for their second annual gala “Strides for the Future” on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Great Hall and Conference Center (1900 South Germantown Road). Proceeds benefit MYA’s 2026 summer camp.
- Carrie Roberts (2174 Thornwood Lane, Memphis, TN), interim board chair and gala chair, spoke in support, noting the organization’s 11-year history and positive impact on youth through running. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity.
- Alderman Sanders noted the application packet was complete, including proof of nonprofit status, insurance, a hold harmless waiver for the city, and at least four licensed servers. The board unanimously approved the permit (4–0). Alderman Ulicky and Vice Mayor Gibson also voiced support for MYA’s programming.

Good evening, folks, and welcome to the Board of Mayor and Alderman meeting, the regularly scheduled meeting for Monday, July 27th. We welcome those that are in attendance this evening. We do not have a very lengthy agenda this evening, but we have much uh important work on the agenda. A few highlights about our meeting this evening. We always have an item known as citizens to be heard. It comes as item six on the agenda. And if anyone in attendance this evening would like to speak to the board or to their neighbors and those in attendance, you just simply have to fill out a sheet. It's outside of the through the double doors on People Street at the table to the right of the doors. If you'd like to speak this evening, you can do so at that time. We'll recognize you and you'll have three minutes to uh speak to the community. Uh also this evening we do have a special recognition award for our beautification commission award for July, and we look forward to presenting that award this evening. Also, this evening we'll take a very short recess as the Board of Mayor and Alderman and we will convene as German Towns Beer Board to hear for a temporary beer permit for on premise application and consumption for Memphis Youth Athletics. We only have a consent agenda this evening, and we have no uh regular agenda this evening. Uh this evening our invocation will be led by Parks Director Natalie Ruffin. Our Pledge of Allegiance will be led by Alderman Brian Ulicky. Please rise. Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we come before you today with grateful hearts. Thankful for the many blessings you have bestowed upon Germantown and our residents. We're grateful for the prosperity that flourishes here and for the families who have chosen to make this community their home.
