Council, on June 5th, the Department of Revenue notified the city that our sales tax rate would be changing effective October 1st, or at rather the state sales tax rate would be changing October 1st of this year in a portion of the city because the Woodsonia real estate application for a good life district has been approved by the Department of Economic Development. So with that approval, the state then uh reduces its state sales tax by half from 5.5% to 2.75%. What that does, and that's what has triggered uh the uh special meeting tonight on short notice for you all, um what that does is that um creates an opportunity for the city to ask the voters to approve a good life district economic development program as our bond council Mike Rogers recently briefed us on, luckily.
