Meeting Transcript
Okay, good morning everyone. We will call the committee on appointments to order at 8 a.m. We have a short agenda here, just three items. The first being a resolution confirming Mayor Le Grant's appointment of Laurie Hinckley to the Grand Rapids Police Civilian Appeal Board. So moved support and supported. Comments on this appointment, colleagues? Commissioner Isasi. Thank you, Mr. Chair. Um Ms. Bosker, could you just share a couple of points about this? This is not a reappointment. Is that correct? This is a new new appointment. Correct. Yes, this is one of the mayor's um last appointments. I was just pulling up the form. This will be bumping off a current member. Um as we have discussed earlier, there are members who are serving until a replacement or reappointment was decided. So this will be bumping off a current member. I can look up and see who. It might be bumping the chair off. Oh, okay. Want to confirm that. And then the mayor has one more decision to make, and we're, I guess, getting ahead of things. That's planned for uh one of the June meetings. Okay, great. So there's there's still that's still in action. Okay, thank you so much, Miss Bosker. So then um, just to follow up. So with this one, how many openings will be will be there? We have one true vacancy. Okay, where there is not somebody who's still serving. And whose um appointment is that? Is it a mayor roll one too? That one is Commissioner Purdue. Okay, and then um the mayor has one more decision to make on uh reappointing or filling with someone new. Okay. Um Commissioner Belchak has a decision that she's made that will be coming in June. Okay, um, and then there's the other first word commissioner. So that will got it. Okay, thank you for confirming that. You know, you know, that body we had a number of openings for some time. I know it is an important role. Um that was one of the that was actually the first board that I served on uh back in 2006, so 20 years ago. Um so just wanted to highlight that as uh one that we often get questions on. Thank you. Yeah, thank you, Commissioner, and I'm so thankful to all of our colleagues. We've made very good progress on that within a year, and um I know Commissioner Perdue is continuing to be um intentional about her choice uh for that uh board as we get a lot of conversation in community about um, you know, uh first responders in relations to community. So um I know she's being very intentional and wanting to make sure that's a good pick for the third ward, in addition to my uh uh uh appointment to that board.
