The Green City Council held its annual Organizational Meeting on Monday, January 5, 2026, in the Council Chambers. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Yeargin at 5:02 PM and adjourned at 5:13 PM. All seven council members were present. The meeting included the swearing-in of four newly elected or re-elected council members, the unanimous election of council president and vice president, and the adoption of the 2026 council rules of procedure.
Calling to order the Green City Council organizational meeting for 2026 on this the fifth day of January, same year. If you could please join me in the Pledge of Allegiance. And to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. If the clerk of council could call the roll, please. Sure. Mr. Noble. Here. Mr. Spate. Here. Mr. Davidus. Here. Mr. Meager. Here. Mr. New Gibbauer. Here. Mr. Humphrey? Here. And Mr. Brandenburg. Here. Okay. So this is a unique meeting for City Council. This is the one scheduled meeting per year that's opened and at least partly presided over by the mayor. By charter, it's indicated that way because we don't yet have a president of council. That's part of what's on today's agenda. So what's going to happen is we're going to have our newly elected council members who are also all either current members or former members sworn in. And then I'm going to ask for nominations for president of council. We'll get a second, we'll close nominations, we'll vote on that, and then I'm going to pass the gavel to the new president to finish the meeting. So at this time, I know that uh Judge McKinney, and we have some honored guests with us today that I want to introduce. First of all, from the Barberto Municipal Court is Judge Todd McKenney. From the Court of Common Pleas and Green resident is uh Judge Christine Croce. And from the Ninth District Court of Appeals and Green Resident is Judge Jill Lanzinger. We're very grateful for our judges being here today. It's unusual that you're here. We're glad you're here, and we appreciate giving your time to swore in our new council members. I know that Judge McKinney has to go first, and that because he has another commitment, and he was going to swear in our new and old council member Chris Humphrey. So if we could take care of that piece of business first. The Constitution of the State of Ohio. The Constitution of the State of Ohio. The Charter of the City of Green. And all the laws, statutes, and ordinances. And all the laws, statutes, and ordinances. And resolutions enacted thereunder. And resolutions enacted thereunder.
