Discussion Items

  • Lumos Fiber Presentation: George Kemp (Director of Construction Relations), Steve Pristin, and Matt West (Director of Construction for Northeast Ohio) presented on fiber installation progress. They outlined their communication plan (yard darts, door hangers, 1-800-905-9017), restoration protocols, and commitment to minimizing utility strikes and yard disruptions. Matt West stated that the build is expected to complete in fall 2026, and homes will be serviceable within 60 days of construction completion. Council members asked about open holes, restoration timing, private road access, and competition. Council Member CJ Meager noted fewer issues than expected. Council Member Jeff Noble asked about serviceability for private roads. Mayor Yeargin confirmed the city is holding Lumos to high restoration standards and urged residents to call the 800 number for any concerns.

    • 2026-R13 (Hazardous Materials Training Grant from PUCO for fire department – second reading passage requested). Council Member DeVitis reported committee support; the resolution was adopted 7-0 after motions to bypass committee deliberations and the three-reading rule.
    • 2026-R14 (Municipal Economic Development Grant Agreement with Green Vision Care – referred to Planning and Economic Development Committee).
